One Direction: This Is Us Leading Holiday Weekend Box Office

2:34 pm, August 31st, 2013

BOX OFFICE

(Sony)

One Direction: This Is Us is expected to top the Labor Day holiday box office in its debut weekend.

The documentary-concert film is on track to open with $22 million for the four-day weekend.

That puts it ahead of The Butler, which is expected to fall to second place with a possible $18 million.

In third could be We’re The Millers with an estimated $15 million.

Several films are crowding the rest of the spots, including Planes, Elsyium, Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, and the new Spanish-language comedy Instructions Not Included.

Getaway, starring Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez, is disappointing so far, and may not make the Top 10.

Gossip Cop will have updates.
