Tom Cruise has dropped his $50 million lawsuit against Life & Style for claiming he had abandoned his daughter Suri.
The dismissal of the suit — agreed to by Cruise and the magazine’s parent company Bauer Media – was filed in a California federal court on Friday.
No terms of any settlement were revealed other than both parties agreed to pay their own legal costs.
And neither side has commented of the suit being dropped.
At the time that Cruise filed his lawsuit, his attorney Bert Fields said in a statement, “To say [Cruise] has ‘abandoned’ [Suri] is a vicious lie.”
The tough talking Fields noted, “Tom doesn’t go around suing people. He’s not a litigious guy. But when these sleaze peddlers try to make money with disgusting lies about his relationship with his child, you bet he’s going to sue.”
Cruise, at one point during the case, filed a declaration that stated, “The assertion that I ‘abandoned’ Suri after my divorce is patently false,” adding, “I have in no way cut Suri out of my life — whether physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise.”
For its part, Bauer Media tried seeking info regarding Cruise’s visitation schedule with Suri and his daughter’s “mental and emotional state.”
Now, however, it’s all over.
Should anymore details emerge, Gossip Cop will update.
News of the settlement was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
