Tom Clancy is dead.
The beloved author died on Tuesday night, his publisher confirms to the New York Times.
He was 66.
Clancy was the literary force behind the Jack Ryan series, which included The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, and The Sum of All Fears, all of which were adapted into major Hollywood films.
He was also the author of Red Storm Rising, and dozens of other novels.
