“The Voice” will have a new history-making feature on its results shows beginning next week: the “instant save.”

On Friday, NBC announced that during the next four weeks, viewers will get to save one of the bottom-three vote-getters through Twitter.

Towards the end of each episode, audience members at home will have a five-minute window to tweet which of the contestants in jeopardy they want to stay with the hashtag “#VoiceSave.”

The aspiring singer with the most Twitter votes will then be rescued from potential elimination.

NBC reality exec Paul Telegdy tells USA Today, “People have a last chance to realize, ‘I love that person. I don’t want them to go home. That kind of last chance to save a favorite is something the audience has been telling us they want, so we’re giving it to them.”

And Twitter says this will be the first time tweets will be used to determine a live outcome on a reality competition series.

“Nobody has ever handed the reins over to the audience before and said, ‘You get the choice, you have the power,” says Fred Graver, who oversees TV for the social media site.

He adds, “It’s a huge innovation.”

As Gossip Cop reported, the Top 12 for season 5 was unveiled on Thursday’s special results show.

The Voice Top 12 Revealed!

Truth rating: 10

(NBC)

“The Voice” season 5 Top 12 was unveiled on Thursday’s special results show.

All the teams went from five contestants to three based on both the audience’s vote and the one save allotted for each coach.

The top two vote-getters from each team were automatically safe, but it was a bit trickier with the bottom three.

From Christina Aguilera’s team, Olivia Henken and Stephanie Anne Johnson were eliminated in order to save Josh Logan.

From Blake Shelton’s team, he saved Ray Boudreaux instead of Shelbie Z and Nic Hawk.

From Cee Lo Green’s team, Tamara Chauniece and Amber Nicole were given the boot in favor of Kat Robichaud.

From Adam Levine’s team, he kept Will Champlin in place of Preston Pohl and Grey.

Caroline Pennell “Mesmerizes” With “Beautiful” White Stripes Cover on Voice

Caroline Pennell “mesmerized” with her Top 20 performance on “The Voice” Tuesday.

Cee Lo Green’s contestant — an early favorite — sang a folksy version of “We’re Going to be Friends” by The White Stripes, leaving the coaches in awe.

“Caroline, I’m so happy right now,” said Adam Levine, noting how “pure” and authentic she sounded. “You did a beautiful ‘Caroline rendition’ of that song.”

Said Blake Shelton, “I don’t know what it is about Caroline, but I could literally be getting an amputation and if somebody was playing her music and she was singing, all I’d be thinking about is cotton candy. I don’t know what it is about you, but it’s mesmerizing.”

And her mentor added, “I think America loves you.”

Only three of Green’s five artists from the live playoffs will remain after Thursday’s results show.

Check out the video below, and tell us if Pennell has your vote!
