Kayla Baker, the ailing young “Vampire Diaries” fan visited last week by stars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder, has received a life-saving lung transplant.

Dobrev posted the news on Friday, after she and Somerhalder spent time with the 14-year-old patient in Toronto over Easter Weekend.

“Sending congratulations to @kayla_0507 and her family. We all secreted this. Her life has been saved. I’m smiling ear to ear,” wrote the actress, who attached an update from the New Lungs for Kayla group on Facebook (see below).

She added, “Ps. I’m an organ donor! Everyone should be! You can save someone’s life. I am grateful to Kayla’s fearless Hero.”

Earlier this week, Dobrev posted photos of her and Somerhalder’s hospital visit with Baker.

The star told Baker, “Happy Easter @kayla_0507!!!! Thinking of you today – sending you positive vibes ! We had so much fun hanging out with you yesterday! :)”

She’d also asked her Twitter followers to send “positive energy” to the ten girl.

“Just take one moment of your time to think of her and put it out there in the universe. Think happy thoughts and smile 🙂 The secret… We can make anything happen.”

Gossip Cop is thrilled to hear that Baker got the “hero” she needed.

(CW)

“The Originals,” a potential spinoff series from “The Vampire Diaries,” will be introduced via an upcoming episode of the hugely popular drama.

The “backdoor pilot” for the possible new show is scheduled to air on April 25.

“Vampire Diaries” cast member Joseph Morgan (who plays Klaus) stars in the story about the original family of vampires, as does Phoebe Tonkin, who portrays werewolf Hayley.

In the episode, Klaus returns to the French Quarter of New Orleans, a “supernatural melting pot” he helped build centuries ago, and is reunited with former protege Marcel.

If it gets picked up as a series, “Vampire Diaries” executive producer Julie Plec would run “The Originals.”
