Get ready for “The Originals.”

“The Vampire Diaries” spinoff is officially happening.

On Friday, one day after the backdoor pilot episode aired, the CW announced that it is picking up the series for next season.

“As soon as we saw last night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, we knew we wanted more of The Originals — [creators] Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson have done a fantastic job with The Vampire Diaries, which is as fast-paced and well-written as ever, and Julie has created an equally compelling world for The Originals,” said network president Mark Pedowitz.

The new show revolves around the supernatural elements of New Orleans, where “Vampire Diaries” villain Klaus of the “original vampire” family returns and is reunited with former protege Marcel.

Meanwhile, the CW has renewed “Hart of Dixie” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

The proposed “Vampire Diaries” spinoff, “The Originals,” will air next Thursday as a backdoor pilot, and Gossip Cop has your first look at the special episode.

The episode will tie into a regular episode of “The Vampire Diaries,” while showing the backstory for the potential new series, which the CW is considering airing this fall.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, The Originals” focuses on Klaus (Joseph Morgan), the “TVD” villain, and his family, who are considered the “original vampires.”

In the pseudo-pilot, Klaus returns to the French Quarter of New Orleans, a “supernatural melting pot” he helped build centuries ago, and is reunited with former protege Marcel.
