The alternate ending to the series finale of “The Hills” aired on MTV on Friday.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, the network decided to break out the never-before-seen footage to celebrate the return of “The Hills,” and its predecessor, “Laguna Beach,” to the airwaves in reruns.

For those that don’t remember, “The Hills” originally ended with Kristin Cavallari saying goodbye to on-and-off boyfriend Brody Jenner — before the camera zoomed out to reveal the pair were filming on a Hollywood backlot, a nod to rumors that the reality show was actually quite far from reality.

So, what’s different in the alternate ending — and who makes a surprise appearance?

MTV to Air The Hills Series Finale Alternate Ending

A never-before-seen ending to “The Hills” will air on MTV on August 9.

The reality show, which followed the breakups and makeups of Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, Audrina Patridge, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, went off the air in 2010 after 6 seasons of drama.

At the end of the original series finale, the camera zoomed out to reveal Cavallari and on-and-off boyfriend Brody Jenner filming the show on a Hollywood backlot, a nod to rumors that the show was actually quite far from reality.

Cavallari has since spoken out — numerous times — about the series being largely scripted, but it’s unknown what exactly the alternate ending will show.

The special airing, first reported by EW, is part of the “RetroMTVBrunch,” which will bring both “The Hills” and its predecessor, “Laguna Beach,” back to the network on weekday mornings beginning July 8.

Kristin Cavallari: My Hills Co-Stars Were Bribed To Lie About My Alleged Drug Use

Kristin Cavallari continues to lift the veil on “The Hills.”

The new mom opened up about the scripted nature of the former MTV reality show in a candid interview with E! host Giuliana Rancic, saying producers bribed her co-stars to make up lies about her using drugs.

Asked if there was ever any truth to the drug rumors, Cavallari told Rancic, “No. And that actually came from ‘The Hills.’”

“We were in Miami for the Super Bowl. And we were there filming ‘The Hills,’” she explained, revealing, “One of the producers told the girls [my co-stars] that he would give them gifts, specifically a Birkin bag, if they had talked about me doing drugs on camera.”

Cavallari said that her fellow cast members “took the bait,” adding, “The next thing I know, we get home and everything and it’s in one of the tabloids that I have this huge drug problem and I need to go to rehab.”
