Evil Dead Scares Up Weekend Win Over G.I. Joe, The Croods & Jurassic Park

Evil Dead scared up a weekend box office victory.
The remake of the 1980s horror classic took in $26 million in its debut.
That was enough to beat second place finisher G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which earned $20.8 million.
Coming in third was The Croods with a haul of $20 million.
Jurassic Park 3D, a 20th anniversary re-release of the dinosaur action-adventure flick, and the new Tyler Perry movie Temptation nabbed fourth and fifth places with $18.5 million and $10.4 million, respectively.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Olympus Has Fallen ($10 million), Oz the Great and Powerful ($8.1 million), alien invasion adaptation The Host ($5.3 million), Halle Berry’s 911 thriller The Call ($3.5 million) and Tina Fey’s Admission ($2 million).
