Sam Champion Leaving Good Morning America to Join Weather Channel

Sam Champion is leaving “Good Morning America” to join the Weather Channel.
His final show will be on Wednesday.
ABC News made the announcement on Monday.
“Our friend and colleague Sam Champion is leaving ABC News for a new opportunity at the Weather Channel,” said the network in a statement. “He will become the on-air face of the network, appearing as a host and serving as managing editor. Sam calls it a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
“GMA” will celebrate Champion’s tenure of Wednesday’s broadcast.
Ginger Zee will assume many of Champion’s meteorological duties at the network.
Champion began working for ABC in 1988 and has been part of “Good Morning America” since 2006.
