British authorities are once again looking into the death of Princess Diana, who died with her companion Dodi Fayed in a 1997 car crash in Paris.

On Saturday, Scotland Yard revealed that it is examining the “relevance and credibility” of new information it has received pertaining to the deaths.

Police declined to offer further details except to say that personnel from the specialist crime and operations unit would be assessing the new information.

They stressed that the actions did not constitute an official re-opening of the case.

Diana and Fayed died on August 31, 1997, when their vehicle crashed in a tunnel while trying to evade photographers in Paris.

In 2008, a jury ruled that Diana and Fayed were “unlawfully” killed due to their driver Henri Paul’s drinking and reckless speed, along with reckless driving by the paparazzi who pursued them.

Royal spokespeople indicated that Diana’s ex-husband Prince Charles and sons Prince William and Prince Harry would not be commenting on Saturday’s development.

Princess Diana In Previously Unseen Mystery Photo Set For Sale

Truth rating: 10

1:12 pm, January 4th, 2013

(RR Auction)

A previously unpublished photograph of a teenage Princess Diana is going on the auction block and drawing intense speculation more than 30 years after it was taken.

SEE THE FULL PHOTO BELOW

The picture, believed to be from 1979 or 1980, shows a pre-marriage Diana Spencer lounging with an unidentified man and a bottle of whiskey while on a ski vacation.

“NOT TO BE PUBLISHED” is scrawled across the 8×10-inch, black-and-white shot, snapped by an unknown photographer.

It remained hidden for decades in the archives of the Daily Mirror, which reportedly purchased the snapshot in February 1981, just after Diana’s engagement to Prince Charles was announced.

But the private Caren Archive is now putting the rare photo up for sale through RR Auction in New Hampshire, giving the public its first glimpse at a “new” picture of one of the world’s most photographed women.

Reports indicate that the “intimate” image was originally buried to avoid any appearance of scandal as Diana and Charles prepared to wed.

The threshold for what’s considered royal salaciousness has certainly changed in the intervening years.
