Paul Rudd played everything from the world’s biggest One Direction fan to a wacky gun-toting grandma on this week’s “Saturday Night Live,” but his greatest role may have been as the male model for Michelangelo’s famous statue of David.

He had just one… tiny… problem with how the art turned out.

In the bit, Rudd’s character beats little girls at trivia about the boy band, and even leads them in a hilarious chant.

He then gets to meet One Direction and can barely contain himself.

WATCH: Paul Rudd and Anchorman 2 Cast Face Off Against One Direction During SNL Monologue

Paul Rudd opened his “SNL” monologue about how the previous two times he hosted the show he was outshined by its musical guests, Beyonce and Paul McCartney.

Then One Direction walked onstage.

But Rudd said he wouldn’t upstaged this time by a boy band, so he brought his “Man Band” onstage, including Anchorman 2 castmates Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, and David Koechner.

They all sang “Afternoon Delight.”

It was epic.
