The Croods Tops Olympus Has Fallen and Oz to Take Weekend Box Office

The Croods, an animated family film featuring the voices of Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, and Ryan Reynolds, debuted atop the box office this weekend with $44 million in ticket sales.

That put The Croods comfortably ahead of the second place finisher, White House action-thriller Olympus Has Fallen, starring Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, and Morgan Freeman, which earned $30 million.

Coming in third was Oz the Great and Powerful with $23 million.

The Call and the new Tina FeyPaul Rudd comedy Admission nabbed fourth and fifth places with $9 million and $6.7 million, respectively.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Spring Breakers, starring Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, and Vanessa Hudgens ($4.5 million), The Incredible Burt Wonderstone ($4.2 million), Jack the Giant Slayer ($3 million), Identity Thief ($2.5 million), and Snitch ($2 million).

Oz the Great and Powerful Dominates Box Office; Plus, Weekend’s Top 10!

Oz the Great and Powerful has won a second straight weekend box office.

The fantasy adventure starring James Franco earned $42.2 million to take the top spot again.

Halle Berry’s 911 operator thriller The Call grabbed second place with $17.1 million, while Steve Carell’s magician comedy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone came in third with $10 million.

Jack the Giant Slayer and Identity Thief, starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, nabbed fourth and fifth places with $6.2 million and $4.5 million, respectively.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Snitch ($3.5 million), 21 & Over ($2.6 million), Silver Linings Playbook ($2.55 million), Safe Haven ($2.5 million), and Escape From Planet Earth ($2.3 million).
