Josh Hutcherson Opens Up About His Sexuality: I’m “Mostly Straight”

Josh Hutcherson opens up about his sexuality in a new interview with Out, revealing, “I would probably list myself as mostly straight.”
“Maybe I could say right now I’m 100 percent straight,” explains the actor. “But who knows? In a f*cking year, I could meet a guy and be like, Whoa, I’m attracted to this person.”
Hutcherson goes on, “I’ve met guys all the time that I’m like, Damn, that’s a good-looking guy, you know?”
“I’ve never been, like, Oh, I want to kiss that guy. I really love women,” he notes. “But I think defining yourself as 100 percent anything is kind of near-sighted and close-minded.”
The Hunger Games star is the founder of the youth organization Straight But Not Narrow, which seeks to combat homophobia.
“Sometimes it’s frustrating to comprehend how people are not OK with it,” he says of homosexuality. “If you can try to tell me how it’s hurting you, you’re crazy. You’re absolutely crazy. Like, what do you mean it’s not natural?”
He continues, ”Even if — even if, which, I disagree, but even if — why the f*ck do you care?”
Hutcherson, who has lost two gay uncles to AIDS, tells the magazine, “I have this dream that one day, my kid’s gonna come home from school and be like, ‘Dad, there’s this girl that I like, and there’s this guy that I like, and I don’t know which one I like more, and I don’t know what to do.’”
“It’d just be a non-issue, like, ‘Which one is a good person? Which one makes you laugh more?’”
The movie star acknowledges that it can be an uphill battle, but says he’s “ready for a fight,” noting, “I’d love to have somebody who disagrees with me come talk to me, because I’d like to change their mind. And I think I could.”
Hutcherson also candidly talks about the awkwardness of sex (“Sometimes the rhythm isn’t right”), but doesn’t directly confirm the authenticity of nude pictures that recently surfaced online.
“I find it so shocking still that nakedness is so shocking,” he says simply.
In fact, Hutcherson, who is dating actress Claudia Traisac, supports a risqué idea for his Hunger Games character Peeta and the film’s love triangle: a threesome!
“I know Peeta would be into it, for sure. He’s very sensitive, in touch with his emotions,” he says in response to the suggestion. “I think it really might solve a lot of their problems.”
“You know what? I’m going to pitch that idea. Let’s make it a — what’s it called when three people are in a relationship together? A triad?” asks Hutcherson before quipping, “That’ll go over well with Middle America.”
