Nigella Lawson and Charles Saatchi are on their way to a quick divorce.

On Wednesday, London’s High Court granted the estranged couple a decree nisi — a preliminary divorce judgment.

In six weeks, Lawson and Saatchi can seek a decree absolute, which would finalize the legal split.

Neither party was in court for the hearing.

Although Saatchi announced his intentions to divorce Lawson earlier this month, it was actually the celebrity chef who officially filed to end the marriage.

In paperwork dated July 10, “The Taste” judge seeks the divorce based on her husband’s “unreasonable behavior.”

The pair’s split comes 10 years after they wed, and a month and a half Saatchi was photographed choking Lawson at a restaurant.

He initially downplayed the incident, but later admitted to the assault.

Nigella Lawson and Charlies Saatchi are divorcing.

Saatchi, who three weeks ago was pictured grabbing his wife’s neck in a series of shocking photos, told the Mail on Sunday, “I am sorry to announce that Nigella Lawson and I are getting divorced.”

The art collector said, “I feel that I have clearly been a disappointment to Nigella during the last year or so, and I am disappointed that she was advised to make no public comment to explain that I abhor violence of any kind against women, and have never abused her physically in any way.”

Saatchi called the split “heartbreaking,” but added that in the past year the couple had become “estranged” and “drifted apart.”

He again claimed the neck grabbing incident was “not violent.”

Saatchi went on to say, “I am sorry that we had a row. I am sorry that she was upset. I am even more sorry that this is the end of our marriage.”

Lawson and Saatchi have been married since 2003.

The celebrity chef has two children from her previous marriage to journalist John Diamond.

Nigella Lawson’s husband Charles Saatchi has admitted to assaulting her and accepted a “police caution” after British tabloids published shocking photos of Saatchi grabbing Lawson’s throat at a London restaurant.

The incident occurred on June 9 as the famed TV food personality and her advertising mogul husband of 10 years dined outside.

Eyewitnesses saw Saatchi put his hand around Lawson’s throat multiple times, and paparazzi cameras caught the violence and Lawson’s tearful departure.

Saatchi initially downplayed the situation as a “playful tiff,” but London’s Metropolitan Police now say he has been officially cautioned for assault after being questioned for several hours by law enforcement officials.

Under British law, such a “caution” carries no penalty, but can be used as evidence of poor character if the individual is later prosecuted for other crimes.
