Megan Fox quit Twitter on Thursday — just a week after joining the social networking site.

The actress, who gained more than 250,000 followers during her brief stint, made the announcement on her Facebook page.

Fox wrote, “Some of you may, or may not have noticed by now that my Twitter account has been shut down… I thought that 2013 might be the year that I finally blossomed into a social networking butterfly… but as it turns out I still hate it.”

“Love you guys but I will just never be that girl,” added the star. “Facebook is as much as I can handle.”

She closed with the hashtag  “#I’m Sorry.”

And like that, she was gone.

Megan Fox Joins Twitter Hours After “RIP” Death Hoax Trends

Truth rating: 10

Megan Fox has joined Twitter, hours after false rumors of her death became a worldwide trending topic on the social networking site.

The actress sent her first tweet late Thursday afternoon, not long after “RIP Megan Fox” trended based on a hoax from the disgusting prank site Global Associated News.

“I’m incredibly late to the party,” Fox wrote, ”but I’m here nonetheless, so what now?”

On Thursday night, she announced the account on her official Facebook page, writing, “Against my better judgment, I have finally joined Twitter.”

She continued, “Every possible version of my name is already in use so for now my Twitter handle is https://twitter.com/MeganFox516.”

It’s unclear if Fox’s decision to join had anything to with the death hoax, but it’s a striking coincidence regardless.

In June, Gossip Cop confirmed that a Twitter account supposedly belonging to Fox’s husband Brian Austin Green was, in fact, a fake.

Megan Fox Victim of Death Hoax

Truth rating: 0

2:29 pm, January 3rd, 2013

(GettyImages.com)

Megan Fox is the first major celebrity death hoax victim of 2013.

The actress was rumored to be dead in a single vehicle crash, according to the sick hoaxers at Global Associated News, which has spread false celebrity death reports for years.

“RIP Megan Fox” began trending worldwide on Twitter.

Fox is NOT dead.

The rumor is 100 percent FALSE.

Fox is alive and well.

It’s just another example of a dumb hoax getting completely out of hand on social media.

Considering Fox just became a mom, this “joke” is especially horrible.
