The first trailer for HBO’s “True Detective” has debuted.

The eight-episode miniseries stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as detectives who spend 17 years on a twisted search for a serial killer in Louisiana.

Michelle Monaghan and Elizabeth Reaser also star.

“True Detective” will premiere in January 2014.

Dallas Buyers Club Movie Trailer: Matthew McConaughey Fights AIDS in 1980s

Jennifer Garner and Jared Leto also star.

The movie hits theaters in November.
