The “Today Show” went Halloween-crazy on Thursday, with the anchors dressing up as classic TV characters.

Al Roker donned Mr. T gear to celebrate “The A-Team,” Natalie Morales and Savannah Guthrie were costumed as “Laverne & Shirley,” and Carson Daly played a California Highway Patrolman alongside “CHiPs” star Erik Estrada.

Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford were Betty and Wilma from “The Flintstones.”

Willie Geist joined Carmen Electra as “Baywatch” characters, but that was just a lead-up to the sight of Matt Lauer playing the Pamela Anderson role.

Some things you can’t unsee.

Kirstie Alley Praises Miley Cyrus, Slams Matt Lauer For Being “A**hole” and “Fool”

Kirstie Alley is praising Miley Cyrus after the singer dissed Matt Lauer during her “Today Show” interview on Monday.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Cyrus told Lauer he was “definitely not sexual” after the host asked her whether her racy new act was just “a phase.”

Alley took to Twitter to applaud the way Cyrus handled Lauer and to criticize the reporter’s interviewing style.

The “Fat Actress” star tweeted, “God I love @MileyCyrus !! Matt Lauer tryin to trip her up on Today Show… she ain’t buyin it.”

Alley added, “When morning show hosts ask the ‘hard questions’ it simply means ‘Im gonna be an a**hole now to try & make U look like a fool.’ U the Fools.”

The star went on to say that Cyrus calling Lauer asexual “cracked me up,” telling followers, “he deserved it for trying to introvert her… Snap.”

She then wrote, “have all u old F’s forgotten what it looks & feels like to be YOUNG? Stop actin like U didnt get turned on by Elvis air grinding his ween.”

Katie Couric Returning to Today Show?

Is Katie Couric returning to the “Today Show”?

The National Enquirer is trying to make it happen.

According to the tabloid, NBC executives “have decided the only way to save the war-torn show is to bring back” Couric, who co-anchored the program from 1991 to 2006.

“With viewers calling for [Matt Lauer]‘s ouster for turning on [ex-anchor Ann Curry], panicked producers are desperately wooing likable Katie to come back to the show that made her a star,” so-called “insiders” tell the Enquirer.

One source informs the tabloid, “They’re calling Katie and begging for her to return, saying the morning couch on NBC is where she belongs. They want her to save Matt and the show.”

Couric, of course, currently hosts a daytime syndicated talk show, but the Enquirer claims she “continues to get calls almost daily from Today staff, hoping to convince her to bolster Matt Lauer.”

“Matt is not happy he needs anyone to save the show because he has such a big ego,” says a tab insider. “But Matt said if he has to sit next to anyone, it would be Katie, because she’s always prepared and she ‘gets’ him.”

Interesting.

Of course, it all means absolutely nothing.

Couric and Lauer may have great chemistry after their years together, but it does not mean she’s actually returning to the “Today Show.”

While the “Today Show” has indeed had some recent turmoil, NBC is not attempting to “save” the morning institution with Couric.

A source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop it’s “simply not true.”
