Justin Bieber WON’T Be Prosecuted in Spitting, Speeding Cases: Report

Justin Bieber will NOT be prosecuted for two high-profile incidents earlier this year, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has reportedly decided.

As Gossip Cop reported in March, the teen superstar was accused of spitting on his neighbor and making a criminal threat against the resident when the unidentified male went on to Bieber’s property to chastise him for allegedly speeding in their gated community.

The D.A. has reportedly determined that there wasn’t enough evidence to pursue the case, with the specifics amounting to just Bieber’s word versus that of the complainant.

The neighbor is said to have actually saved Bieber’s supposed spit, however, and reported to the police that the performer threatened, “I will beat the sh*t out of you and I will f*cking kill you.”

But while the D.A.’s office says the singer’s response was “disproportionate and immature,” “since the neighbor had entered the property without invitation, Bieber’s actions did not rise to the level of a criminal threat.”

In the second case, Bieber was under investigation for reckless driving after former NFL player Keyshawn Johnson accused him of speeding through their neighborhood in his Ferarri in May.

But the D.A. has concluded via surveillance footage that Bieber wasn’t actually driving the vehicle at the time, but riding his motorcycle behind the car in question, reports TMZ.

Furthermore, Bieber’s pal Tyler the Creator has said he was the one behind the wheel.

Both cases were rejected for prosecution, and are now officially closed.

Robin Thicke Sues Over Allegations He Ripped Off “Blurred Lines”

Truth rating: 10

Robin Thicke’s massive summer hit “Blurred Lines” is at the center of a new lawsuit filed by the singer.

Thicke and his collaborators, Pharrell and T.I., are fighting back at allegations that their song rips off legendary acts Marvin Gaye and George Clinton’s Funkadelic – and they’ve taken the battle to court.

Representatives for both the late Gaye’s family and Bridgeport Music, which owns some of the rights to Funkadelic’s music, have accused Thicke of using musical elements from ”Got to Give It Up” and “Sexy Ways,” respectfully.

Now Thicke is asking a judge to legally declare that “Blurred Lines” does NOT infringe on any copyrights, and that they “created a hit and did it without copying anyone else’s composition.”

“The basis of the Gaye defendants’ claims is that ‘Blurred Lines’ and ‘Got to Give It Up’ ‘feel’ or ‘sound’ the same,” state the legal docs. “Being reminiscent of a ‘sound’ is not copyright infringement. The intent in producing ‘Blurred Lines’ was to evoke an era.”

The lawsuit is a pre-emptive move by Thicke, who says he’s been threatened to provide monetary compensation to Gaye’s family and Bridgeport, or face litigation.

Since news of the legal battle broke on Thursday, Clinton took to Twitter to insist that he personally has no problem with “Blurred Lines” and has nothing to do with Bridgeport’s accusations.

“No sample of #Funkadelic’s ‘Sexy Ways’ in @RobinThicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ – yet [Bridgeport head] Armen Boladian thinks so? We support @RobinThicke @Pharrell!” he tweeted.

The lawsuit was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Chris Brown Turns Himself Into Jail For Hit-And-Run Case: Report

Truth rating: 10

10:28 pm, August 5th, 2013

Chris Brown went to jail on Monday, turning himself in as part of the ongoing hit-and-run case against him.

The singer had previously pleaded not guilty to the charge, and since he wasn’t arrested at the scene of the alleged crime in May, he was ordered to turn himself in by August 6.

Now, one day ahead of schedule, Brown went to a Van Nuys, Calif. jail, where he was booked and released after about 45 minutes on his recognizance, reports TMZ.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, the star’s probation was revoked last month after the L.A. District Attorney claimed he violated his probation after the alleged hit-and-run, during which he supposedly didn’t hand over proper driver’s license and insurance information to the other motorist.

His next court date for the hit-and-run case is slated for August 15, and he’ll also have to appear on another date for a probation violating hearing.

Brown, whose probation stems from his infamous assault on Rihanna, has repeatedly contended he presented the other driver with valid documentation, and did not violate the law.

Gossip Cop will have updates.
