ABC has issued a formal response after “Bachelor” star Juan Pablo Galavis said gay people should not be allowed on the show because they’re “more pervert[ed].”

The network, Warner Horizon Television and the “Bachelor” producers said in statement, “Juan Pablo’s comments were careless, thoughtless and insensitive, and in no way reflect the views of the network, the show’s producers or studio.”

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Galavis said in an interview with The TV Page that he was opposed to having gay people on the dating show because “I don’t think it’s a good example for kids to watch that on TV.”

He explained, “There’s this thing about gay people… it seems to me, and I don’t know if I’m mistaken or not… they’re more pervert in a sense.”

Speaking with a reporter for The TV Page at an event on Friday, the hunky star was asked, “Do you think it would be a good idea at some point to have a gay or bisexual ‘Bachelor’?”

Galavis quickly responded, “No.”

Why not?

“I respect them… but, honestly, I don’t think it’s a good example for kids to watch that on TV,” explained Galavis, who then reiterated that he doesn’t have an issue with gay relationships.

He continued, “But obviously, people have their husband and wife and kids and that is how we are brought up. Now there [are] fathers having kids and all that, and it is hard for me to understand that too in the sense of a household having… two parents sleeping in the same bed and the kid going into bed… It is confusing in a sense.”

Galavis asked, “Where is the thin line to cross or not?”

“It would be too hard for TV,” he explained. “Too much, too much.”

Then he dropped this explanation: “There’s this thing about gay people… it seems to me, and I don’t know if I’m mistaken or not… they’re more pervert in a sense… and to me the show will be too strong, too hard to watch on TV.”

(ABC)

Juan Pablo Galavis is the new “Bachelor”!

Host Chris Harrison made the announcement on Monday’s “The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose.”

The 32-year-old single dad, who was raised in Venezuela, won over many fans in his pursuit of Desiree Hartsock on “The Bachelorette.”

After getting eliminated, the soccer player expressed determination at finding a wife — and a stepmother for 4-year-old daughter Camila.

Now he’ll be getting a huge chance to do just that — on TV.

The new season – which will be the series’ 18th installment – will begin filming this fall, and air early next year.

What do you think of Galavis being the next ”Bachelor”?
