E L James Officially Announces Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey in Fifty Shades

E L James officially announced Jamie Dornan as the new Christian Grey on Thursday, one day after reports surfaced saying he scored the lead role in the highly-anticipated film adaptation.

“Stow your twitchy palms ladies… our man is here. Welcome to #TeamFifty @JamieDornan1 x,” wrote the author.

Dornan (pictured right with his wife earlier this year) is taking over for Charlie Hunnam, who left the project earlier this month.

The Irish actor will star alongside Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele.

Production is expected to begin next month.

Jamie Dornan Cast as Christian in Fifty Shades of Grey

Jamie Dornan is reportedly slated to play Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

The Irish star is said to have had a successful screen test with Dakota Johnson, who will play Anastasia Steele, on Friday.

Dornan is now in final negotiations for the leading role, according to multiple reports.

He would replace Charlie Hunnam, who recently dropped out of the project.

The actor, probably best known in the U.S. for appearing on “Once Upon a Time,” currently stars on the UK series “The Fall.”

Gossip Cop has reached out to Universal Pictures and Focus Features for confirmation of Dornan’s casting.

Jamie Dornan and Billy Magnussen Audition for Fifty Shades of Grey

Jamie Dornan and Billy Magnussen both reportedly screen tested opposite Dakota Johnson for Fifty Shades of Grey on Friday.

The actors are said to be among the candidates to replace Charlie Hunnam as billionaire sex enthusiast Christian Grey in the highly anticipated adaptation of EL James’ bestselling book.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dornan (of the British series “The Fall”) and Magnussen (a Tony nominee for “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” on Broadway) read for director Sam Taylor-Johnson before the weekend.

No casting decision has been made, and the two men are not the only actors who will be auditioning for the part.
