The “Will Smith and Family Reacting to Miley Cyrus” VMAs Picture Is A Lie

The entire Internet is passing around a screenshot (see right) from Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards that supposedly shows Will Smith and his children Willow and Jaden looking horrified during Miley Cyrus’ raunchy performance.

Everyone is wrong.

The moment captured on MTV’s “audience cam” actually shows the Smiths watching Lady Gaga’s “Applause” show opener.

Us Weekly, Buzzfeed, Yahoo!, and thousands of Twitter users ignored the image in the lower right-hand corner of the shot (see below), which actually shows who was on stage at the time — Gaga, NOT Cyrus.

Sure enough, Gossip Cop checked the full replay of MTV’s “Live All Access” feed, and the now-infamous Smith reaction shot comes at 03:04:17 — smack in the middle of Gaga’s performance, which, it should be noted, the Smiths applauded just a few seconds later.

While the world had plenty of reactions to Cyrus’ racy VMAs stage show, the Smiths’ is NOT one of them.

Jada Pinkett Says She’ll Never Leave Will Smith, Slams “Cruel” Tabloid Media

Jada Pinkett covers the July issue of Redbook, opening up about her marriage to Will Smith and slamming the tabloid media for publishing false split reports about the pair.

Pinkett tells the mag she and Smith will never break up, saying, “What is the thing that Will could do to make me not love him? That would make me abandon him? I can’t think of one. I’m sorry.”

The star goes on slam the tabloid rumor mill, sharing, “I have been affected by gossip and I know people who have been too. I’ve seen marriages destroyed by gossip. It is cruel.”

Pinkett also talks about the couple’s home life with their two famous kids, Willow and Jaden.

She says that despite the Smith clan’s superstar status, they’re just like every other family.

Pinkett reveals, “We tend to find magic in the mundane. Picking Willow up from her girlfriend’s house at 9:30PM, and enjoying that ride together, then stopping at 7-Eleven to get some ice cream as a family.”

The issue hits newsstands on June 11.

CLAIM: Jaden Smith Wants To Be Emancipated From Will and Jada

Jaden Smith has “decided that for his 15th birthday in July he would like the gift of FREEDOM from his parents — and to be able to live in a home of his own,” reports The Sun.

The tabloid claims Will Smith revealed that Jaden told him, “Dad, I want to be emancipated.”

The paper quotes Will as saying, “I know if we do this, he can be an emancipated minor, because he really wants to have his own place, like ooh.”

“That’s the backlash. On the other side, if kids just want to have command of their lives, I understand,” the movie star allegedly added.

Wow, that’s pretty wild.

But is it true?

NO!

Unlike a number of other blogs who regurgitated The Sun’s reporting without bothering to fact-check, Gossip Cop reached out to a rep for Will, who tells Jaden does NOT want to be emancipated from his parents.

Will’s publicist tells us exclusively, “This isn’t real.”

Oops.
