Hugh Jackman was recently treated for skin cancer.

The Wolverine star shared the news on Thursday, posting an Instagram photo of his bandaged nose (see right) and explaining to fans what had happened after his wife Deborra-Lee Furness urged him to visit a doctor.

He wrote, “Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! I had a [basal] cell carcinoma. Please don’t be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!”

Basal cell carcinomas, typically caused by intense UV exposure, are rarely life-threatening, but can be disfiguring and destructive to tissue if left untreated.

We’re glad to hear Jackman got his checked out.

Before he was Wolverine, Hugh Jackman was a school gym teacher.

When one of his former students, Rollo Ross, began interviewing Jackman on the red carpet at the Zurich Film Festival recently, the actor couldn’t help bringing up their former association.

“We go way back… I used to teach you at high school in P.E., and I want to know how your physical education is progressing,” Jackman told Ross. “It’s very important to me.”

He then dragged a blushing Ross in front of the camera, asking, “How is your education going? Did I set you up for life?

It’s kind of adorable.
