Gravity Still Orbiting Above Box Office, Scores Third Weekend Win

Gravity continues to orbit above the competition.
The Sandra Bullock–George Clooney space thriller won a third consecutive weekend at the box office with $31 million.
That outdid the Tom Hanks piracy drama Captain Phillips, which came in second with $17.3 million.
The newly-released Carrie remake was close behind with $17 million, landing third.
Animated family film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 earned $10.1 million for fourth place, while the Sylvester Stallone–Arnold Schwarzenegger action flick Escape Plan took in $9.8 million for fifth.
Rounding out the Top 10 were: Prisoners ($2 million), Enough Said (1.8 million), The Fifth Estate ($1.7 million), Runner Runner (1.6 million), and Insidious: Chapter 2 ($1.5 million).
