GLAAD is NOT happy A&E has reversed course and called off Phil Robertson’s suspension.

As Gossip Cop reported, the network announced on Friday that it “has decided to resume filming ‘Duck Dynasty’ later this spring with the entire Robertson family.”

The company said its decision came after “discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups,” but GLAAD believes more meaningful conversations with the duck hunter are needed first.

The organization says in a statement:

Phil Robertson should look African American and gay people in the eyes and hear about the hurtful impact of praising Jim Crow laws and comparing gay people to terrorists. If dialogue with Phil is not part of next steps then A+E has chosen profits over African American and gay people – especially its employees and viewers.

In his initial comments, Robertson had said being gay was a “sin,” and expressed his belief that blacks were “happy” in the pre-civil rights South.

A&E had denounced the remarks, and suspended Robertson “indefinitely.”

Season 5 of “Duck Dynasty” has already completed filming and is slated to premiere on January 15.

GLAAD Slams Duck Dynasty Star, Phil Robertson Backtracks on Anti-Gay Remarks

Phil Robertson has issued an apology of sorts for the anti-gay comments he made in the January issue of GQ.

As Gossip Cop reported, the “Duck Dynasty” star says homosexuality is a “sin,” citing his Christian faith and the Bible as the basis of his belief.

“Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers — they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right,” he told the magazine.

But in a statement released on Wednesday through A&E, Robertson backtracks on his comments.

“I myself am a product of the 60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior. My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together,” says the duck hunter.

Robertson goes on, “However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.”

GLAAD has also issued a statement slamming the reality star for his remarks.

“Phil and his family claim to be Christian, but Phil’s lies about an entire community fly in the face of what true Christians believe. He clearly knows nothing about gay people or the majority of Louisianans – and Americans – who support legal recognition for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples,” says a spokesperson.

The rep adds, “Phil’s decision to push vile and extreme stereotypes is a stain on A&E and his sponsors who now need to reexamine their ties to someone with such public disdain for LGBT people and families.”

Before handing out the Vito Russo Award to Anderson Cooper for making a difference in promoting equality, Madonna went after the Boy Scouts for not allowing openly gay members.

Dressed as a Boy Scout, the singer said, “I wanted to be a Boy Scout, but they wouldn’t let me join.”

“I can build a fire. I know how to pitch a tent,” she noted, adding, “But most importantly, I know how to scout for boys. So I think that I should be allowed to be a Boy Scout and I think they should change their stupid rules.”
