Happy Anniversary to Perez Hilton and Fidel Castro!
Saturday marks six years since the blogger infamously — and falsely — reported that Castro was dead!
Back on August 24, 2007, the painfully uninformed Perez tried to scoop the world with an “exclusive” about the Cuban leader allegedly having died.
“Sources reveal exclusively to PerezHilton.com that U.S. officials will be holding a press conference shortly to announce the death of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro,” he announced.
Six years later… we’re still waiting for that press conference.
The funniest part about Perez’s “reporting” that day was that he later doubled (andquadrupled) down on his 100% wrong bet.
“The announcement of Fidel Castro’s death will be made at approximately 4:00 P.M. Eastern, PerezHilton.com has just been updated exclusively,” wrote the blogger in an update.
After being proven wrong, a defiant Perez then posted a third story claiming Castro was dead.
It was this type of outright false “reporting” that inspired Gossip Cop to launch.
In any case, six years after Perez Hilton declared him “dead,” Fidel Castro still isn’t, and the blogger continues to churn out FALSE STORY after FALSE STORY.
Happy Anniversary, Perez!
