The Brian Griffin drama continues to unfold at “Family Guy.”

As Gossip Cop reported, the animated series killed off the beloved dog last month, leading to backlash among fans and confusion over whether Brian’s death was a publicity stunt or permanent.

Now, it appears that Brian might be returning after all — at least for the December 15 holiday broadcast.

The episode is called “Christmas Guy,” and the official description reads, “Stewie devises a master plan to get the one and only thing he wants for Christmas.”

Brian is reportedly listed in the cast of characters, and outlets including Entertainment Weekly speculate that he’ll be making a big return.

It’s worth noting that the character is also reportedly set to become infatuated with a runner (played by Maya Rudolph) in an episode slated for next fall.

“Family Guy” killed off dog Brian Griffin on Sunday’s episode, and the Internet does NOT like the decision.

The animated pooch was hit and killed by a car, leading to a rare display of emotion by the show’s other characters — and intense backlash online.

Twitter users voiced their displeasure with the death of Brian, who is voiced by series creator Seth MacFarlane and has been a core character since “Family Guy” debuted in 1999.

Multiple “Brian”-related trending topics popped up late Sunday and early Monday, with the majority of people expressing outrage or disappointment with the major plot development.

A Change.org petition called “Seth MacFarlane, and Fox Broadcasting Company: Bring Brian Griffin back to Family Guy” reached 1,500 signatures within hours of the broadcast.

Meanwhile, the “R.I.P Brian Griffin from Family Guy” Facebook page has more than 100,000 likes, and is also petitioning for the beloved pet’s return.
