Paula Deen is firing back at a longtime employee making new allegations of racism against the embattled TV cooking personality, whose admission that she once used the N-word triggered the loss of countless endorsements and the implosion of her empire.

Dora Charles, an African-American who worked in Deen’s kitchens for 22 years, claims in a New York Times article that Deen used racial slurs and asked her to do demeaning tasks (like ringing a dinner bell in front of a restaurant) while never making good on promises to make Charles wealthy.

She also alleges that Deen once wanted another employee, Ineata Jones, to dress in an Aunt Jemima costume.

Deen is now responding to the new wave of charges.

In a statement to ET Online, the celebrity chef’s camp said, “Ms. Charles’ ‘issue’ is about money, not race. She receives a salary of more than $70,000 per year, plus profit sharing and benefits. For 20 years she has been paid a fair wage for her work, but she feels she deserves even more money. She claimed to be a friend of Paula Deen’s but is now trying to cash in on the current situation.”
