Desiree Confronts Brian About Having Girlfriend on The Bachelorette: Recap

10:00 pm, June 10th, 2013

(ABC)

It’s only the third episode of “The Bachelorette,” and Desiree Hartsock has already been played.

After a group dodgeball date, the bridal stylist receives a phone call from Chris Harrison, who alerts her that Brian has a girlfriend back home.

She confronts the slimy suitor — along with his girlfriend, Stephanie.

Hartsock says, “It takes some one with no character to come on a show for love knowing he has a girlfriend back home,” and sends him home immediately.

After the uncomfortable incident, the Bachelorette goes on a one-on-one date with Kasey.

The pair do “Bandaloop” dancing on the side of a skyscraper on Sunset Boulevard, using a special trapeze rigging to hold them up.

Afterwards, their romantic dinner gets interrupted with a windstorm, but Kasey still gets a rose.

The following day, Hartsock takes five guys on a group date, wherein the coordinator from The Lone Ranger teaches the men roping tricks and other cowboy skills.

Juan Pablo wins the stunt competition, and gets to watch the movie in a private room with Hartsock, during which the pair share a kiss.

But it’s James who receives the group date rose after he reveals to Hartsock he has a sick father he’s worried about at home.

The next day, Harrison announces that the usual cocktail party has been canceled, and that there will be a pool party instead.

Ben takes Hartsock on a drive before the bash, annoying the other guys, especially Mikey T., who confronts Ben for his sneaky ways.

Ben’s defense? The suitor tells the camera, “It’s called ‘The Bachelorette” for a reason. It’s not called ‘Let’s Make Friends.’”

Indeed.

Finally, it’s time for the rose ceremony.

Hartsock eliminates Brandon — after he just confessed he was falling in love with her at the pool party. The Bachelorette tells him they had no chemistry.

Dan also gets the boot.

Bachelorette Recap: The Men Turn On Ben

10:13 pm, June 3rd, 2013

VIDEO

(ABC)

The guys on “The Bachelorette” proved they can fight like women on Monday’s episode, with everyone in the house turning on Ben.

Basically, the men felt that Ben was “rubbing people the wrong way” and was not making efforts to be friends with his housemates.

Then, he interrupted Mike’s one-on-one with Desiree Hartsock when Mike was telling her about his struggle with diabetes.

This particularly upset the guys because Ben already had a rose.

But it wasn’t all drama.

Earlier in the show, Hartsock had a “wedding” date with Brooks, wearing full-on bridalwear for their shopping outing.

She enjoyed his company, and he received a rose.

The Bachelorette also had a one-on-one with Bryden, where he told her about a traumatic car accident he’d been in years ago.

The pair shared a nice dinner then spent some time in the hot tub.

Bryden kept inching closer and closer to Hartsock, but wouldn’t make the move until she prompted, “Just kiss me already!”

He also received a rose.

In the end, Hartsock eliminated Will, Robert, Nick M. during the rose ceremony.

Check out video of her “wedding” date below!

Desiree Hartsock Starts Search for Love, Makes Cuts on The Bachelorette Premiere

9:52 pm, May 27th, 2013

RECAP

(ABC)

“The Bachelorette” Season 9 premiered on Monday, with Desiree Harstock — ex of “Bachelor” Sean Lowe — beginning her search for love with 25 suitors.

The episode started with Hartsock discussing her hopes and goals for this journey (a husband, natch) in light of last season’s heartbreak.

She then got to meet her handsome hunks with the show’s infamous limo entrances.

In addition to the usual cheesy lines and gestures, the more interesting introductions were Zak greeting the bridal stylist shirtless (and staying that way for the rest of the night), Jonathan offering to go directly to the Fantasy Suite, Diogo coming as a knight in shining armor, and Ben arriving with his 4-year-old son Brody.

After mingling at the cocktail party, Desiree handed out first impression roses to six men: Ben, Zak, digital marketing analyst Drew, Iraq war veteran Bryden, federal prosecutor Michael G., and investment advisor Nick M.

So, how did Zak earn his?

Well, since he was already topless, he decided to ditch his pants, too, and jump into the pool in his underwear. Classy.

And Jonathan again urged Desiree to spend time in the Fantasy Suite (which doesn’t even exist at this point in the season), making her so “uncomfortable” that she sent him home.

“I don’t want to even wait for the rose ceremony,” she told him. ”I’m gonna go ahead and ask you to leave.”

At the actual rose ceremony moments after, Desiree had to make her first big saves and eliminations of the season, ultimately cutting five more guys.

With those exits — Diogo, Nick R., Larry, Micah and Mike R. — plus Jonathan, 19 guys remain in the competition.
