Demi Lovato opens up about self-harm in a new interview, telling “Access Hollywood” about the years she spent cutting herself.

“It’s more taboo to talk about than drugs and alcohol,” she says.

The “X Factor” star explains, “Just because you’re cutting, [it] doesn’t mean you’re suicidal.”

She admits that she started at 11 or 12 years old, hoping, “Maybe this will fix the pain.”

While it began as a cry for help, Lovato started to cut in places where “no one would see.”

“Sometimes when you are feeling so numb, just by being depressed… you just want to feel,” reveals the singer.

Check out what Lovato has to say about the very serious issue in the video below.

CLAIM: Joe Jonas Fled Nylon Magazine Party To “Avoid Angry” Demi Lovato

Truth rating: 0

Joe Jonas Flees ‘Nylon’ Party To Avoid Angry Demi Lovato,” reads the headline of yet another entirely inaccurate report from HollywoodLife.

According to the webloid, Lovato is “not happy” with her ex-boyfriend Jonas, who was at an L.A. party for Nylon magazine on Thursday — because of his comments in New York magazine about smoking weed with her – and “when he got word that Demi was on her way, he left the party!”

“He was clearly avoiding his ex,” reports the blog.

Shocking as this may seem, but HollywoodLife is wrong again.

Jonas was at the party with Lovato.

Gossip Cop is told they actually “hung out together.”

Whoops.

Additionally, despite the webloid’s claim that Lovato is “livid” with Jonas, she tweeted after the New York magazine article came out, “@joejonas love you brother. #family/friendsforever.”

As a brief reminder, HollywoodLife has wrongly reported in the past that Lovato was engaged, claimed she was dating Logan Hendersonromantically linked her to Gene Simmon’s son, and issued a “new couple alert” for her and Darren Criss.

Similarly, the webloid has had its fair share of gaffes with Jonas, including inaccurately reporting he was dating model Nina Agdal.

If it’s any consolation, at least HollywoodLife spelled “Nylon” correctly.

Demi Lovato couldn’t hold back her tears during Restless Road‘s emotional performance of “Wake Me Up” on “X Factor” on Wednesday.

For the show’s “unplugged” round, the trio stripped down the Avicii dance track, turning it into a moving country song.

Singer Colton Pack himself started breaking down, prompting Lovato to start crying as the group got a standing ovation.

“You’re making me cry right now, so stop crying,” the singer told Pack through her tears.

She went on, ”You’re not in my category but I’m so proud of you. That was really beautiful. You just earned your place in the [semi-]finals.”

Paulina Rubio told the guys, “You guys need to cry because this is real, this is happening.”

Kelly Rowland called the performance “great,” and pointed out, “Each one of you left your heart right there… You meant every single word.”

Mentor Simon Cowell told the act he put together, “This is what I always hoped you would end up being.

“You’ve come such a long way, and I feel so proud of you. And if that doesn’t get you into the semi-final, there’ something seriously wrong here,” said the music producer, adding, “And you know what else? I would buy that song on iTunes.

Earlier in the show, Restless Road received praise for performing “Red” by Taylor Swift during the “divas” round.
