Miranda Kerr in Cosmo: When I Get Home, “I Slip Into a More Feminine Role”

Truth rating: 10

Miranda Kerr opens to Cosmopolitan about taking control of her career but easing up while at home with husband Orlando Bloom.

“My life is more balanced than ever,” she tells the magazine. “There was so much rejection in the beginning. Models are some of the most insecure people I’ve ever met. They’re constantly being told they’re not good enough. You’ve really got to practice loving yourself.”

And her professional ambitions are big.

Kerr explains, “I’m a lot stronger than people think. I started my own company, invested my own money in it, and have been involved in every facet. I’m that person who says, no matter what the problem is, there’s a solution. That’s the way my brain is wired.”

“If someone says to me, ‘Well, that’s not possible. It can’t happen,’ I say, ‘Yes it is. I’m going to sit here and show you that it can.’ I can take no for an answer and accept it – but if there’s a solution and I can make it work, why wouldn’t I?” says the supermodel.

In her home life, however, Kerr is happy to loosen the reins.

“Don’t feel like you have to do and be everything,” she advises. “Let the man do some things for you, because if he cares for you, he will want to.”

Kerr continues, “When I get home, I’m not the boss like I am at work – I slip into a more feminine role. I take everything off and put on my Stella McCartney silk robe. I’ll put on a red lip or red nails, and it lifts my mood. Sexy underwear also gives you a spark. I collect underwear from my travels. Lace, lingerie, bodysuits… they’re like souvenirs.”

And she and Bloom have enough mutual respect for the other’s work to keep it separate from their marriage.

Flynn says Mommy works and Daddy plays, because Daddy is in a play… so that makes sense,” says Kerr. “When I saw Orlando on Broadway in Romeo and Juliet, I was blown away. For someone to be able to learn all that and hold the energy to do it every day, six days a week – I have so much respect for him.”

She adds, “We don’t run lines though. We keep that very separate. That would be like me asking him to teach me how to catwalk.”

Kelly Osbourne: “I’ve Been to Rehab Seven Times and Two Mental Institutions”

Truth rating: 10

11:02 am, August 7th, 2013

(James White/Cosmopolitan UK)

Kelly Osbourne gets candid in the September issue of Cosmopolitan UK, opening up about her multiple stints in rehab and how her personal problems nearly derailed her career.

“I’ve been to rehab seven times and to two mental institutions,” the former reality star reveals, going on confess, “My mum even had me put in a padded cell once to scare me.”

She continues, “But like a brat I just sat it out until she said, ‘Well, that’s not going to work.’”

Osbourne, who admits she used to hide her drugs because she “wanted them all” to herself, says, “What changed for me was looking around and seeing that nobody liked me or wanted to work with me.”

The “Fashion Police” co-host also discusses the life lessons that came along with helping her mom Sharon through cancer and her dad Ozzy after a serious bike accident.

“When I was 18, I was set to play Lindsay Lohan’s best friend in Freaky Friday. Then my mum got diagnosed with cancer,” recalls Osbourne. “I was faced with the choice of a career or spending what could have been the last days of my mother’s life with her.”

“I said, ‘F**k you, career, hello, Mother.’ I became my mum’s nurse 24/7,” says Osbourne, noting, “I gave her injections and medicines when she had seizures. I even had a parking space at the hospital with my name on it. I thought I was going to lose her – it was awful.”

And after her dad had a crash a decade ago, Osbourne remembers, “He couldn’t move from the neck down and was basically a paraplegic, so I slept on the floor by the side of his bed for four months. I brushed his teeth and washed his clothes, and every day we’d put on our swimsuits and I’d shower him.”

“Not many people can say they’ve wiped their mother and father’s arses more than they’ve wiped their own,” she adds.

But Osbourne relishes changing people’s misconceptions of her.

“I can’t lie; it’s been hard having people say, ‘You’re fat,’ and, ‘You’re a beached whale,’” she says, “but I’ve been judged since I popped out, and I’ve never known anything else.”

“What’s been great is overcoming that and understanding that these people are just idiots who hurt your feelings because they want a reaction,” says the TV personality, adding, “I’m proud of proving them wrong.”

Osbourne’s full interview will hit newsstands on Thursday.

Nina Dobrev Talks Breakups, One-Night-Stands and Julianne Hough in Cosmo

Nina Dobrev covers the September issue of Cosmopolitan, opening up about her friendship with Julianne Hough, her plans to open a yoga studio, and her views on relationships.

“The Vampire Diaries” star, who split from co-star Ian Somerhalder in May, tells the magazine that when it comes to romance, “I’m progressive in some ways, old-fashioned in others.”

“I like it when guys hold the door open and are sweet and thoughtful. The guys on our show are really good at that,” says Dobrev, adding, “A man in a suit looking put together and dapper is very attractive, but I also kind of like the I-just-rolled-out-of-bed, a-little-bit-of-scruff, effortless, not-trying-hard-but-still-sexy guy. If a guy spends more time looking in the mirror than I do, that’s problem!”

Dobrev, who calls herself “a relationship girl,” goes on to philosophize, “You either have chemistry or you don’t, but a lot of what attracts me is a guy’s mind and humor and talent.”

“I need to get to know all those things before I fall for someone,” says the actress. “I’m not a one-night-stand kind of girl.”

Dobrev and Hough have become increasingly close as of late, a friendship that some have attributed to their respective breakups after the actress-dancer split from Ryan Seacrest – a notion that Dobrev dismisses.

“That’s not what our friendship is about. Unfortunately, that’s how it’s perceived, but there’s more to us,” says the TV star, explaining, “People aren’t defined by their relationships. The whole point is being true to yourself and not losing yourself in relationships, whether romances or friendships.”

She adds, “It’s been cool to find an active buddy – there are lots of girlie girls around. We don’t talk about makeup; we talk about life.”

For Dobrev, life right now includes trying to open her very own yoga studio.

She tells the mag, “Planning construction and looking at properties is fun. I’m using a different part of my brain. You know that feeling when you use a different muscle?”

“You’re excited to be exercising it but you get a little sore!” continues Dobrev. “Yoga changed my life. Hopefully, it will do that for others.”

She notes, “I’m constantly trying to make myself better, to learn more. I didn’t finish college, so I feel like I’m always having to prove myself… I don’t want to feel like the smallest person in the room.”

The full interview hits newsstands on August 13.
