Chris Brown rejected a plea deal in his Washington, D.C. assault case on Wednesday.
The performer was offered an agreement by prosecutors that would have downgraded his charge to simple assault.
However, Brown’s legal team professed his innocence and refused to strike a deal.
It is expected that a trial date will be set at a hearing in February.
Brown did not speak in court on Wednesday.
The legal proceeding is linked to an October incident with a man outside a Washington hotel back in October.
Brown is still in a complicated probation situation following his infamous 2009 attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna.
