Ben Affleck’s casting in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel set the rumor mill into overdrive this week.

Who else will star star?

Which villain will come face to face with Batman and Superman?

Well, contrary to internet speculation, Bryan Cranston says he’s NOT signed to play Superman nemesis Lex Luthor.

Asked about his supposed participation in the highly-anticipated flick, the actor tells the Boston Globe, “This is all news to me.”

“I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I’m known to be bald. ‘What bald guy can we get?’” jokes Cranston, pointing out, ”The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him.”

Cranston, whose hit series “Breaking Bad” is in its final run of episodes, will next star in the American Repertory Theater’s production of “All the Way,” and is slated to direct an episode of “Modern Family.”

And after that?

“I think I’ll relax the rest of the year,” Cranston tells the paper. ”There’s some irons in the fire, things that people are talking about, but nothing is set.”

Bryan Cranston: I Almost Killed a Girlfriend

Truth rating: 10

12:05 pm, July 16th, 2013

(Nathaniel Goldberg / GQ)

Bryan Cranston has taken an incredibly dark turn as Walter White on “Breaking Bad,” and the actor reveals to GQ that he’s personally had at least one close brush with the kind of brutality that defines his most famous character.

It came when he almost killed a girlfriend.

As part of its August cover profile, the magazine asks Cranston whether he believes in evil.

He replies, “Yeah. I think it’s right next to good, inside every person.”

Cranston then confides, “I had one girlfriend I wanted to kill.”

And he means it literally.

According to GQ:

“It was a woman he dated after his short-lived first marriage. She was a drug addict, terribly unstable, and she followed Cranston to New York when he left L.A. to work on the soap opera Loving. She stalked him, leaving messages on his answering machine: “I’m gonna kill you. I’m gonna cut your balls off. I’m gonna have your d*ck sawed off.” Finally, one day, the woman showed up at Cranston’s Upper West Side apartment, banging on the door.”

Cranston recalls, “And I envisioned myself killing her. It was so clear. My apartment had a brick wall on one side, and I envisioned opening the door, grabbing her by the hair, dragging her inside, and shoving her head into that brick wall until brain matter was dripping down the sides of it.”

“Then I shuddered and realized how clearly I saw that happening,” continues the actor. “And I called the police because I was so afraid. I was temporarily insane — capable of doing tremendous damage to her and to myself.”

Wow.
