Britney Spears was welcomed to Las Vegas in spectacular fashion on Wednesday, in advance of her upcoming residency at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.

The pop star was greeted by scantily-clad dancers, fire-breathers, contortionists and snake-holders, in addition to the thousands of fans wearing Spears-inspired costumes and holding signs.

Spears’ music provided the soundtrack, naturally, and she received a bouquet of roses from David Hoenemeyer, Planet Hollywood’s president.

“I’m so happy to be here right now. This is my city,” the singer told the crowd. “I can’t wait to see you guys opening night.”

Spears’ two-year residency, “Britney: Piece of Me,” begins on December 27.

The pop star’s new release will be available for purchase next week, but you can listen to the entire thing via iTunes right now.

As it happens, Spears’ little sister Jamie Lynn debuted her own single earlier on Monday.
