Billy Ray Cyrus talked about Miley Cyrus’ 2010 bong scandal on Thursday’s “Access Hollywood,” telling the show, “I look back and think, ‘If the Internet would’ve existed when I was her age I’d probably still be in jail.’”

The singer, who was promoting his new memoir “Hillbilly Heart,” shared, “I grew one [pot] plant one time and my mom ran out there and killed it. I was watching that thing all summer – I was so proud of it. I came home one day and it was gone!”

As for the current status of Miley and Liam Hemsworth’s engagement, Billy Ray said, “That’s Miley’s deal as far as when the wedding is. I don’t really know that much about when they’re getting married.”

Billy Ray Cyrus: “I Don’t Know” If Miley Will Marry Liam Hemsworth – WATCH VIDEO

Billy Ray Cyrus doesn’t know if his daughter Miley will tie the knot with fiance Liam Hemsworth.

In a new interview with “Nightline” to promote his memoir Hillbilly Heart, Cyrus is asked about keeping things vague in the book when it came to the couple’s future together.

“I didn’t know the answer. They’re young. They’re kids. The great news is, they’re great friends. They’re really, really good friends,” explains the country singer.

He continues, “If you end up getting married, that’s your business too, you know?”

Asked whether he believes they’ll wind up marrying, Cyrus replies, “I don’t know. I play it by ear.”

Billy Ray Cyrus: I’ve Been A Better Friend To Miley Than A Father (VIDEO)

Billy Ray Cyrus has opened up to “Entertainment Tonight” about his complicated relationship with daughter Miley, in advance of his upcoming memoir.

Hillbilly Heart is set to hit bookshelves next week, and features the country singer reflecting on everything from his rise to fame to co-starring with Miley on “Hannah Montana.”

In 2011, the famous father-daughter pair became temporarily estranged after Cyrus told GQ that the show “destroyed” his family, and that he was concerned for Miley’s future.

He later issued an apology, and vowed to work on “mending” the relationship.

Cyrus tells “ET,” “I almost feel a little bit bad as a daddy saying it, but I’ve always been a better friend to Miley than I have been a daddy.”
