Is Angie Miller about to lose her frontrunner status?

On Wednesday’s “American Idol,” all four judges criticized the favorite contestant for the first time, after she took on Smokey Robinson’s “Shop Around.”

“It’s the first time ever that I’ve seen you on this show have such a pitchy performance,” complained Randy Jackson. “You’re usually so right on.”

Mariah Carey questioned why Miller didn’t choose a song more suited to her vocal style, such as “I’ll Be There,” while Keith Urban pointed out that despite this let-down, her talent is still “undeniable.”

For Nicki Minaj, though, it wasn’t a question of talent or melody, but why Miller felt the need to stray so far from her proven strengths.

“I think you came out today to try to show a different side of Angie that didn’t need to be shown. You need to stop and enjoy that people are loving what you’re doing,” said the rapper.

“Don’t try to come out here and give us another side,” added Minaj. “We didn’t ask for another side yet.”

Angie Miller continued to hold on to her front-runner status on Wednesday’s “American Idol.”

Tasked with performing a Beatles song, the contestant chose “Yesterday” — and nailed it.

“Unbelievably amazing,” said Nicki Minaj, who told Miller her future career could include film scores, Broadway, and virtually everything else.

“You can do anything with your voice,” the rapper added. ”You are amazing.”

Randy Jackson was also enthusiastic, saying, “You’re one of my favorite in this whole competition and I’ll tell you why: That was a stellar performance.”

The veteran judge went on to note that Miller has a little “rock edge” to her, and Mariah Carey agreed, but also noted that she loved that the melody of “Yesterday” didn’t change here.

“I feel like you did a very respectable version of the song, if that makes sense,” said Carey.

And Keith Urban encouraged Miller to bail on attempts at changing her vocal style, as suggested by some critics, explaining, “You’re in there the whole time. It doesn’t matter to me. I see through all that.”

Angie Miller was heralded as “perfection” on Wednesday’s “American Idol.”

The Top 10 contestant performed Celine Dion‘s “I Surrender” — also covered by winner Kelly Clarkson in season 1 — and earned heaps of praise from the judges.

“And do I surrender, Angie,” began Keith Urban. ”You’re such an artist and what I love is you can take a song from seemingly any era and make it seem like now… I thought you knocked it out of the park tonight.”

Nicki Minaj, who said Miller “looked like a billion dollars,” is “perfection on every level.”

“You personify perfection. The voice, there is no flaw,” continued the rapper, adding, ”I can’t critique on anything because it’s just a thousand billion percent on point, and you are a superstar.”

Randy Jackson agreed, saying, “America, the competition starts now… That’s how you do it.”

“I think you can sing anything,” said the veteran judge. “It’s an absolutely amazing performance. I loved every part of it.”

Added Mariah Carey, “What did I think? Stellar!”
