Angie Miller may have risked elimination on Wednesday’s “American Idol” with a cover of Rihanna’s hit “Diamonds.”

The Top 4 contestant changed the arrangement of the track and played the piano — usually a surefire way for her to get a standing ovation — but this time, the judges weren’t biting.

“I commend you doing an original take on that,” Keith Urban began before telling Miller it was the wrong song to change up, and that he expected the song to “soar.”

Noted Nicki Minaj, “This was different than any other piano performances… It was bland, it was lackluster. You can do a lot better.”

Randy Jackson said the song choice was “interesting,” but complained, “It just didn’t go anywhere… I didn’t love it.”

And Mariah Carey told Miller, “I do feel like you tried to take it to another place, but I also must agree… that you were playing to the camera more than the usual Angie lost in the moment of playing.”

The negative comments were a far cry from last week, when the panel said Miller’s performances were the best of the night.

Angie Miller revisited her original audition song on Wednesday’s “American Idol” to tremendous success.

The singer again performed Jessie J’s “Who You Are,” the track that gave her a ticket to Hollywood.

This time, Miller received a standing ovation, an amazing reaction that came after harsh critiques of fellow Top 4 contestants Candice Glover and Kree Harrison.

“That was like a mini, short representation of why I have such confidence in you as an artist,” Keith Urban told Miller, commending her for loosening up as the performance went on.

Mariah Carey, who explained she didn’t stand up because her dress was caught on her chair, said, “Blowing you kisses and standing up in spirit.”

“The caliber of that performance was beyond,” continued the music icon. ”That was a professional moment.”

Nicki Minaj told Miller that “there’s no one that compares to you that’s in this competition when you are behind the piano. No one.”

“You sing like this was an awards show. You won an award and you’re closing the awards show,” said the rapper, adding, “It was exceptional.”

And Randy Jackson noted, “You made me forget that was a Jessie J song. That was an Angie song. ”

“This, to me, is the best performance so far of the night…,” he added. ”That’s how you win!”

Angie Miller’s emotional performance hit a strong chord on Wednesday’s “American Idol,” where she dedicated her rendition of “Stand By You” to Boston.

Before starting off, Miller said, “This is for my home, Boston.”

The poignant performance — which came two days after the city was rocked by bombings near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, leaving three dead and more than 100 injured — received a standing ovation from Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Keith Urban.

Carey said afterward, “Of course all of our hearts and prayers go out to Boston. That was a beautiful dedication.”

“It was perfect, especially tonight, in terms of your hometown,” she added.

Noted Urban, “I thought that was a really good song choice… You have such an amazing voice that makes me want to cry every time.”

Nicki Minaj told Miller, “I loved that you dedicated it to your hometown. That was such a smart choice for you as an artist, not just a human being.”

And Jackson, too, gave a shout out to the city before saying, “I think you’re on your way, man. I really, really do.”
