Anderson Cooper is slamming Alec Baldwin for calling Daily Mail reporter George Stark“toxic little queen” and “lying little b*tch” and then saying his rant was not homophobic in a statement to GLAAD.

The CNN host, who last year officially came out as gay, tweeted on Friday, “Why does#AlecBaldwin get a pass when he uses gay slurs? If a conservative talked of beating up a ‘queen’ they would be vilified.”

Cooper then retweeted a post from CNN producer Steve Krakauer, who quoted the part of Baldwin’s tirade against Stark which read, ”[I’d] put my foot up your f**king ass, George Stark, but I’m sure you’d dig it too much.”

Krakauer’s tweet asked, “What does that mean, Alec?”

Baldwin, for his part, said he’s taking another hiatus from Twitter.

What do you think of Cooper’s take on the Baldwin incident?

Anderson Cooper Approached to Take Matt Lauer’s Today Show Job: Reports

Anderson Cooper is being eyed as a possible replacement for Matt Lauer as “Today Show” host, according to multiple reports.

The CNN anchor, whose own daytime talk show is ending this year, has reportedly been approached by NBC to discuss potentially taking over for Lauer, although the exact timetable and specifics have not been made clear.

It should be emphasized that Cooper has NOT agreed to any “Today Show” deal, nor has Lauer’s exit been confirmed.

Lauer is under contract through 2014, although it’s possible he could depart before it expires.

Cooper’s CNN contract ends next fall.

Adding to the intrigue is a Deadline report claiming Lauer was upset about the network’s actions and called Cooper to express his disapproval.

However, that version of events is being called into question by sources at NBC, who say Lauer is on board with the possible Cooper succession plan and plans to meet with his fellow newsman to discuss it.

Stay tuned.
