Amy Poehler is known for her humor, but the latest installment in her “Ask Amy” YouTube series takes a serious and poignant turn in light of the past week’s horrific events.

The “Parks and Recreation” star, who was born and raised in Newton, Massachusetts, gets a question from a 16-year-old girl frustrated by Internet culture that’s become an onslaught of negative images and videos.

Poehler’s heartfelt response, coming after days of awful pictures in the news, reflects on how we should try to stay informed as citizens amid tragedy without hurting ourselves and others:

“I wonder if we could give our eyes a break. Maybe try to see things in a different way, maybe see things by reading about them or talking about them or listening. I don’t know, I kinda feel like my eyes need a break, don’t you? And if you do, then I guess my encouragement to you and to myself would be to take it. It’s okay to not be looking at what everyone else is looking at all of the time, to know what you’re ready to see and not see, and to be okay with letting some things rest in peace.”

“I don’t know if this makes any sense, but this has been a weird week, hasn’t it?” asks Poehler.

She concludes, ”I love you Boston.”

Amy Poehler Responds to Taylor Swift Diss: You’re Right, “I Am Going To Hell”

Truth rating: 10

Taylor Swift raised some eyebrows with her new Vanity Fair interview, including the implication that she was not happy about Tina Fey and Amy Poehler lightly jabbing her love life during the Golden Globes.

To recap, when asked about the comediennes’ joke, Swift replied, “You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people, because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved, that said, ‘There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.”

Ouch.

Well, Poehler has now responded to Swift’s comments — with typical humor.

Asked for comment by THR, the “Parks and Recreation” star had this to say about Swift: “Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist and she is a young and talented girl.”

Poehler added, “That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff.”

So far, Fey has not weighed in.

The “Parks and Recreation” star pretended to be a stranger when she called into Andy Cohen’s show, asking Meyers about his experience working with her.

After the “Weekend Update” anchor offered effusive praise for his departed colleague, Poehler came clean and revealed her identity, much to Meyers’ surprise.

What did Poehler say when Cohen asked whether she’d consider co-hosting next year’s Oscars with Tina Fey?
