Katy Perry gave John Mayer the heave-ho because she caught the guitar-slinging Lothario cheating on her… AGAIN,” reports the National Enquirer.

A so-called “source” tells the tab, “Katy finally had enough of John’s wandering eye,” noting, “He’s an incorrigible flirt who’s constantly chatting up other women, asking them for their phone numbers so he can text them.”

The purported “insider” adds, “Sometimes, he would even ask them out for drinks, and Katy got sick and tired of it.”

The mag further claims that Mayer was “recently rumored to be getting cozy with pretty ‘Girls’ star Allison Williams,” saying the pair were “spotted together at a Manhattan fashion event in late January, and that was just about the last straw for Katy.”

Um…

Perry and Williams are good friends, and have been spotted on a number of outings with Mayer and Williams’ longtime boyfriend, Ricky Van Veen.

So it’s safe to say there’s NOTHING going on between Mayer and the “Girls” actress.

And how did the “last straw” come in January, but Perry and Mayer didn’t split until March?

Also, we’d like to point out that NOWHERE in this story does the magazine actual give a specific example of Mayer’s alleged straying.

In any case, Gossip Cop checked in with a Mayer insider, who tells us the tab’s cheating claims are “not correct.”

Allison Williams On Jennifer Lawrence: “Maybe She Wishes She Was On Girls”

Allison Williams opens up about becoming a working actress in a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, admitting to the paper that there were times she never thought she’d make it.

Williams, who plays Marnie on “Girls” and whose father is NBC anchor Brian Williams, says her parents would not let her begin acting until she graduated from college, which made her feel behind the game compared to other stars her age.

She shares, “When Mean Girls came out, I just thought Lindsay Lohan was genius. I didn’t understand how I could ever come close to that if they didn’t let me start young.”

Williams explains that she’s since “come to realize it’s not a zero-sum game,” offering, “When I see performances like Jennifer Lawrences in Silver Linings Playbook, I think, ‘God, what a great role.’ But maybe, just maybe, she watches ‘Girls’ and maybe, just maybe, she wishes she was on ‘Girls.’”

The L.A. Times also spoke with “Girls” creator Lena Dunham, who reveals she wasn’t sold on casting Williams on the show based on her “Mad Men”/”Nature Boy” YouTube video that won over Judd Apatow.

Dunham says, “I thought ‘gorgeous voice, great hair, what else is new in Hollywood,’ I had to meet Allison to understand just how cheeky and intelligent that video really was, and just why Judd felt so strongly about her.”

Lena Dunham and Allison Williams Embroiled in Girls Fight?

Truth rating: 0

5:23 pm, February 6th, 2013

(GettyImages.com)

Lena Dunham and Allison Williams are in the midst of a “Girls” fight, according to Star.

The magazine notes the HBO show’s creator and star is “the darling of Hollywood,” but claims Williams is “beginning to resent her place on the back burner and is plotting to steal some of the spotlight.”

How so?

A purported “insider” tells the tabloid, “Allison doesn’t want to make an enemy out of Lena because she’s essentially her boss, but she’s desperate to sign a major fashion deal.”

Actually, Williams just landed an endorsement deal with Simple Skincare, so there doesn’t seem to be any “desperation” there.

Also, it’s safe to assume that writer-director-actor Dunham, who is now developing an HBO show based on legendary New York stylist Betty Halbreich, is not going to feel threatened by her costar getting a new gig.

Anyhow, the tabloid’s so-called “insider” goes on to allege that Williams is “really jealous of all the awards and attention Lena is getting.”

So, is the tension between Williams’ and Dunham’s “Girls” characters seriously carrying over into real life?

Not. At. All.

Gossip Cop spoke with a source close to Williams, who tells us the mag’s story is laughable, adding that the actors have actually become quite good friends.

Oops.
