Josh Duggar Blasted By Jessa’s Father-In-Law Michael Seewald Over Ashley Madison

Josh Duggar is getting publicly blasted by a member of his own extended family over his infidelity and involvement in the recent Ashley Madison hacking scandal.

Michael Seewald, whose son Ben is married to Duggar’s sister Jessa, says the former reality star was living a “lifestyle of evil” in a blistering blog post titled “Grief, Shame and Taking the Lord’s name in Vain.” “He blasphemed the name of God,” Seewald writes, adding, “He claimed to be a Christian, but by his deeds he has suggested otherwise. With the name of God on his lips he lived a covert and extensive lifestyle of evil.”

“Josh was a pretender,” Seewald continues, warning his readers to “not look at Josh and justify your own sins by dismissing the reality of genuine faith and a holy God.” Seewald, an auto glass technician, says he felt compelled to make his unfiltered remarks in an effort to “vindicate the name of God.” But it wasn’t that long ago that he said he was proud to be associated with the Duggar family.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Seewald originally came to Duggar’s defense back in May after it was first revealed the “19 Kids and Counting” star had molested several children, including Jessa, as a teenager. “I want to say to Josh, hang in there, the shame you feel is legitimate, yet Jesus took your shame as he was punished in your place,” he wrote at the time. Now it appears Seewald has had a change of heart.

“I stood in solidarity, encouraging him to use the scandal to build humility and grace. Sadly, [Josh] had deceived us all. The name of God has been blasphemed and God is jealous for his name,” he says. Duggar, in a statement released earlier this month, admitted to being “the biggest hypocrite ever.” He’s currently in an undisclosed rehab center. Miley Cyrus kept the party going after last night’s Video Music Awards, sharing what appeared to be a joint with members of the media backstage. See photo at right.

“Because you’re all my friends and my song is kind of, sort of about the love of marijuana, slash, the love of human kind, I brought a little joint if anyone would like any,” she said. After taking a few puffs for herself, the headline-grabbing star happily passed her stash to several reporters and photographers.

Cyrus, whose entire family was in the audience, also made numerous references to her love of weed while hosting the live-two hour telecast on MTV. In fact, her show closing performance, a song called “Dooo It!” is an homage to marijuana and begins with the lyric, “Yeah, I smoke pot.”

After arriving in the press room in an inflatable body-hugging, pink latex dress, which had her pot song’s title on it, the singer was apparently ready to wind down from an evening that saw Cyrus expose a boob on-air and briefly engaged in a testy back-and-forth with Nicki Minaj.

Of course, Cyrus was not the only celebrity who appeared to be partaking in some off-camera pot smoking at the VMAs. Before announcing his candidacy for president in 2020, Kanye West admitted that he had taken a few hits backstage. “The answer is YES,” he said. “I rolled up a little something. I knocked the edge off.”

Kanye West and Britney Spears will have the best seats in the house for Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards. Gossip Cop has a sneak peek at exactly where the biggest stars in music will be seated for the anything-can-happen extravaganza at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater. Check out the pictures below!

Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award recipient West, joined by wife Kim Kardashian, will be seated in the first row directly in front of center stage. Their entourage will include Kylie Jenner, who will be sitting just one spot away from Spears, who is presenting the ceremony’s first award. John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, who are pals of West and Kardashian, will be sitting behind the couple.

Taylor Swift, too, will have an unobstructed, front-row view when host Miley Cyrus takes the stage in her VMAs hosting debut, though she is in a different section from one-time enemy West. Meanwhile, Justin Bieber and Tori Kelly will enjoy the party directly in front of Big Sean, but behind Nick Jonas. Just feet away, Demi Lovato, Kelly Osbourne and Colbie Caillat will all be able to chat during intermissions, right behind “Happy” hitmaker Pharrell Williams.

“Uptown Funk” duo Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars will also be sitting close to the stage, allowing for easy access should they need to accept a coveted Moonman statue. They’ll be joined by The Weeknd, one of the night’s many performers. But with dozens of stars set to attend, most of the celebrity seat assignments are going to remain secret until showtime. See the photos below, and come back Sunday for full VMAs coverage.
