‘American Idol’ Burning Questions: Who’s Throwing the Girls Under the Bus?
One of the top four American Idol finalists was spared the heave-ho with a Thursday night fake-out, but there certainly lingered plenty of questions about the drama leading up to that not-so-shocking moment.
The good news? Season 12 last girls standing are still around to entertain us for another week. The bad? Someone will go home next week, but who? Also: How do they feel about Lazaro Arbos dissing the girls?
We posed our latest round of burning questions to Angie Miller, Candice Glover, Amber Holcomb and Kree Harrison and they graciously answered…
How many songs were really on the one-hit wonder list? Candice Glover reveals that there were only 15 choices. “I’m not sure ‘I’m Too Sexy’ was on the list,” she laughed.

With Lazaro Arbos making some snide comments about the show and the contestants, is it going to be difficult touring this summer? Candice Glover certainly had a thing or two to say about it. “I don’t really know what he means,” she said. “I heard a comment about The Hunger Games, I heard about us being crazy and if I was in that position I wouldn’t act like that, so boys are on one bus and girls are on another. The top 10 was really close as far as I’m concerned. … It’s never okay to throw each other under the bus and I hate to say that but you know. When your feelings are hurt you say a lot of stuff you don’t mean and I’m not making any excuses for him but I understand where he’s coming from.” Added Holcomb: “He’s like my best friend, I love him.”
Was it awkward for Candice Glover to have Jimmy Iovine and Nicki Minaj on the stage arguing about her? “I didn’t know what was going on,” she said after the show, still flummoxed. “Jimmy came behind the walls so I just stepped aside and let them have their little argument.”
Adele is often seen as the kiss of death, was there a lot of discussion about performing “Rumor Has It” as a duet? “We spent more time picking the song than we did rehearsing it,” Kree Harrison explains. “It was intense. You have two girls trying that are so vocally different trying to do a duet. I was glad that we chose that song, though. I had so much fun.
What inspired Candice and Angie’s duet of “Stay” by Rihanna? Like choosing a Drake song, which Candice described as “just a big risk,” when it came to the emotional ballad, the girls said they imagined a worst nightmare sort of scenario. Said Glover: “Angie was like, ‘I’m going to give you a scenario: Drake is mine.’ And I was, like, ‘Oh no!’ So that’s how we got our attitude.”
If the Final Four were to start an all-girl group, what would it be called? “Spice Girls — on steroids,” said Kree Harrison with a laugh.
