Discovery Sets Date for New Series ‘#BikerLive’ (Exclusive Video)

Discovery Channel has set a premiere date for its new series #BikerLive, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

For each episode, three motorcycle builders from a select region will be given five weeks and $15,000 to build their own custom bike. Viewers across the nation will then be able to tweet their choice for best custom build through an interactive voting segment which will determine the winner — live. Based on audience votes, each week will see a different winner in each region.

#BikerLive is one of seven new series that Discovery Channel will be debuting in the cable network’s 2014-15 season, which also includes 15 show renewals.

Latin American animation show Isla Presidencial has been picked up for a third season.

Having garnered a total viewership of more than 30 million its first two seasons, the series will premiere all-new episodes on YouTube via Electus and Latin WE Hispanic pop culture and lifestyle channel NuevON.

Created by Juan Ravell and Oswaldo Graziani, Isla Presidencial follows a group of predominantly Latin American leaders as they find themselves stranded on a deserted island struggling for survival. Politicians and presidents of Latin America are parodied in this Spanish-language comedy, described to be a fusion of Gilligan’s Island and Lost.

Isla is a perfect example of the power of the Spanish-speaking audience, making it one of the most prolific audiences in the world,” Jorge Granier, CEO of GOTV, said in a statement. “Isla was initially being launched without a marketing platform and the exponential growth of the series speaks to Juan and Oswaldo’s amazing vision while underscoring the value and power of the Spanish speaking digital market.”

Granier and Andres Otero, both of digital entertainment company GOTV, will executive produce the upcoming season.

GOTV’s distribution partnerships with online platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and YouTube and content partnerships with LatinWE and Nuevon has allowed the company to provide Spanish-language content to more than 50 million Hispanic viewers in the United States.

Nuevon is a Hispanic celebrity-oriented, pop culture channel YouTube channel with more than 900 million views and 330,000 subscribers. NuevOn, created by Latin WE in partnership with Electus, features a variety of entertaining reality, drama and comedy formats that are specifically tailored to young, multicultural Latinos.
