“I look like Humphrey Bogart,” the ‘House of Cards’ star said as he watched his audition clip from 1979.

Before taking on the role of Frank Underwood on House of Cards, Kevin Spacey had his sights set on making it as a teen idol.

While visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night, Spacey’s past caught up with him when host Jimmy Kimmel surprised the actor with footage from his 1979 audition for Tiger Beat magazine. A young Spacey, dressed in a trench coat and fedora, could be seen in attendance at a teen-idol casting call for aspiring actors. “I look like Humphrey Bogart,” Spacey said as he watched the clip. “Little do they know they could have had an exclusive way back then. Boy, oh boy.”

Joked Kimmel: “You’re saying that’s not what the teens were eating up in 1979?”

Spacey revealed that, following his high-school graduation, he auditioned for both the teen magazine and The Gong Show (both of which rejected him) and highlighted his Johnny Carson impersonation as his special skill.

It’s impossible to foresee what will go down during a live show, and the Grammys are no exception. And aside from the winners and spectacular music, various crazy antics have occurred during the annual event.

From stage crashers to red-carpet shockers, see which surprising moments made a mark in Grammy history:

1. Jennifer Lopez’s Versace dress steals the show.

J.Lo turned heads when she arrived at the 2000 Grammy Awards in a plunging green Versace dress. The attention it generated on the red carpet continued when she and David Duchovny walked onstage to present the first award of the night. “This is the first time in five or six years that I am sure that nobody is looking at me,” the actor said.

2. Bob Dylan’s performance gets crashed.

At the 1998 Grammy Awards, Dylan was joined onstage by an uninvited guest. During the singers’ performance of “Love Sick,” a shirtless dancer with the words “Soy Bomb” marked across his chest crashed the set and had to be taken away by security.

3. Ol’ Dirty Bastard interrupts Shawn Colvin’s acceptance speech.

11 years before Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan, stole the spotlight from Shawn Colvin. During her song of the year acceptance speech at the 1998 Grammys, the rapper took to the stage to denounce Puff Daddy‘s win in the best rap album category. “Puffy is good, but Wu-Tang is the best,” he announced.

4. Jon Stewart strips down for security sensors.

Stewart opened the 2002 awards show by baring all (almost). The host joked about the recent enforcement of strict airport security rules in a skit that left him onstage in nothing but his boxers.

5. Lady Gaga makes her red carpet entrance inside of an egg.

The singer, inside of a translucent egg, was carried down the red carpet by her stage team at the 2011 Grammys (needless to say, no reporters were able to get a word in with her). Later in the night, Gaga “hatched” out of the egg on stage during her performance of “Born This Way.”

6. Nicki Minaj stages an elaborate exorcism.

Minaj stirred up controversy when she hit the red carpet at the 2012 awards accompanied by a man dressed as a priest. In her later performance of “Roman’s Holiday,” the rapper put on a demon-possessed act and staged her show to appear as a live exorcism.

7. Milli Vanilli get entwined in a lip-syncing scandal.

Milli Vanilli won the Grammy for best new artist in 1990, but the award was rescinded months later when it was belatedly discovered that all of duo’s performances had been lip-synced and their vocals were never once featured on their own tracks.

8. M.I.A performs onstage while nine months pregnant.

In 2009, M.I.A proved that a baby bump wouldn’t stop her from taking the stage. The nine-months pregnant rapper performed her hit “Swagger Like Us” alongside Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lil’ Wayne and T.I. on her baby’s supposed due date.
