Sarah Jones, Chasten Harmon, Christopher Heyerdahl, Melinda Page Hamilton and Joe Adler have also signed onto the pilot.

Rectify star Aden Young has found his next small screen role.

The actor and Logan-Marshall Green (Prometheus) have signed onto star in the USA Network pilot Damnation, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Sarah Jones (Alcatraz), Chasten Harmon (BrainDead), Hell on Wheels’ Christopher Heyerdahl and Melinda Page Hamilton (Mad Men) have also signed on for series regular roles, with Grey’s Anatomy’s Joe Adler set to recur should the project be picked to series.

Described as “an epic saga of the secret history of the 1930’s American heartland,” Damnation centers on the struggle between big money and the downtrodden, God and greed, charlatans and prophets during the Depression. The pilot centers on Seth Davenport, a man pretending to be a small town Iowa preacher in the hopes of starting a full-blown insurrection against the status quo. Focused on his mission, he is unaware that an industrialist tycoon has hired a professional strikebreaker named Creeley Turner to stop the uprising by whatever means necessary. Unbeknownst to those around them, these two men already share a secret bloody past.

Young will play Seth Davenport, a man with a violent past and a secret ambition to lead a revolution against American industrialists. Young is coming off a breakout role on SundanceTV’s Rectify, which wraps its four-season run later this year. The actor, whose other credits include Killer Elite, is repped by CAA, Shanahan Management, and The Artist Representation Company.

Marshall-Green will play Creeley Turner, a hard-boiled and deadly mercenary sent to Iowa to stop the revolt. His other credits include Snowden, The O.C., 24 and Cinemax’s Quarry. He is also set to appear in the next Spider-Man film. He is repped by CAA, 3 Arts and Stone Genow.

Jones will portray Amelia Davenport, a woman who puts on a modest front as a preacher’s wife in order to disguise her fierce political ambitions. She was most recently seen on The Path, and her other credits include Texas Rising and Vegas. She is repped by UTA and Management 360.

Harmon is set as Bessie Louvin, a recent arrival to the local house of ill repute who is literate and cunning with Machiavellian plans to achieve a life of independence. The recent Yale School of Drama will also be in upcoming episodes of CBS’ Elementary and Pure Genius. She is repped by Generate and Don Buchwald & Associates.

Heyerdahl will play set for the role of Sheriff Don Berryman, the charming local sheriff who in fact ruthlessly controls the county’s moonshining, bootlegging, and prostitution rackets. The actor, whose other credits include Syfy’s Van Helsing and Stargate: Atlantis, is represented by Greene & Associates Talent Agency.

Hamilton will portray Connie Nunn, a brutally efficient professional strikebreaker who will arrive in Iowa seeking revenge for her husband’s murder. The actress, also known for her roles on Devious Maids and Big Love, is repped by SDB Partners and Sager Entertainment.

Adler will play DL Sullivan who is the young reporter in the town. His other credits include The Mentalist and Showtime’s upcoming Twin Peaks revival. He is repped by Paradigm and Authentic Talent and Literary Management.

Hell or High Water director David Mackenzie recently came onboard to helm the pilot, which was written by Tony Tost (Longmire). The two will exec produce with James Mangold (Walk the Line), Guymon Casady (Game of Thrones), Daniel Rappaport (Office Space), and Mackenzie’s producing partner, Gillian Berrie. The project hails from Universal Cable Productions.

‘Nashville’: Connie Britton Eyes Reduced Role in CMT Revival

The actress, who is also a producer on the country music drama, has only signed on for 10 episodes.

It was a bit of good news/bad news for Nashville viewers Wednesday.

While CMT finally announced a season five premiere date for the country music drama, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that star Connie Britton has only signed for 10 episodes (so far) of the 22-episode season.

Sources tell THR that negotiations are ongoing with the actress, who also serves as a producer on the series. The news was first reported by EW.

ABC pulled the plug on Nashville, which is co-produced by Lionsgate and ABC Studios, in May after four seasons. The following month CMT and Hulu revived the series, with Hulu set to stream new episodes the day after they air on CMT. Before the show was revived, Britton appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers and called the show’s cancelation “the end of an era.”

“It’s bittersweet – I always feel like, to have four years on anything – you can never take that for granted.”

Shortly after the Hulu-CMT deal was formalized, nine of the show’s stars, including Britton and Hayden Panettiere signed on to return. All nine at the time were confirmed for 22 episodes, though now it appears Britton may not be on board for the full return on the little-watched network.

The news of Britton’s potential reduced role comes after stars Will Chase and Aubrey Peeples were dismissed for the fifth season, which also marks the first for new showrunners Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick (My So-Called Life, thirtysomething). They replace longtime showrunner Dee Johnson.

Britton’s potential reduced role also comes as star Calista Flockhart reduced her role on Supergirl after the DC Comics show moved from CBS to The CW. The former series regular will recur on the Greg Berlanti drama after the series also moved from filming in Los Angeles, where Flockhart lives, to Vancouver.

The actor, who plays Tom Keen, would co-star in the new project if it is picked up to series.

One of The Blacklist‘s key players is on the move.

Ryan Eggold, who plays Tom Keen on the NBC drama, has closed a deal for the potential spinoff, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Should the series move forward, Eggold would co-star. He has been with the original series since its inception, playing the mysterious husband of Elizabeth (Megan Boone).

Set to air as a back-door pilot on the May 12 episode of the James Spader-led series, Famke Janssen (X-Men, How to Get Away With Murder) stars as Susan “Scottie” Halsted. Her character will be introduced in the previous episode, airing May 5. Details about her character are also being kept close to the vest, however sources have toldTHR that the role could be the mother to Eggold’s character. In addition to Janssen, Eggold would join Edi Gathegi on the spinoff.

Justified‘s Michael Dinner is on board to direct the Blacklist back-door pilot, which will be episode 22 of the current season.

The project hails from The Blacklist bosses Jon Bokenkamp (The Call), John Eisendrath (Alias), John Davis (Predator), John Fox and Michael Watkins (The X-Files), who will all serve as executive producers. Like The Blacklist, the potential spinoff would be produced by Sony Pictures Television and Davis Entertainment.

Should the spinoff move forward, it’s unclear if it would be for the 2016-17 broadcast season. A decision is expected to come in the next few months.

NBC is no stranger to spinoffs. The network’s longest-running current scripted series, Law & Order: SVU, is a spinoff, and Chicago Med and Chicago P.D. both can be traced back to Chicago Fire. Later this season, episode 21 of Chicago P.D.‘s third season will serve as a back-door pilot for a potential fourth series, Chicago Justice.

Like many of NBC’s veteran dramas, The Blacklist has already scored an early renewal.

Eggold, whose credits also include 90210 and Entourage, is repped by Gersh, Untitled Entertainment and Hirsch Wallerstein.
