Hillary Clinton Is Prepping for Trump Debates By Drawing on “Experience in Elementary School”

The Democratic presidential nominee talked Donald Trump’s recent “wacky” claims, emails and her husband’s viral balloon moment from the DNC on Monday’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live.’

Jimmy Kimmel was greeted by the secret service and bomb-sniffing dogs when he returned to work after a two-week vacation. “All of course because Hillary Clinton is here,” the host told his Jimmy Kimmel Live audience, who cheered for the Democratic presidential nominee when the ABC late-night show returned on Monday.

The cheers continued when Clinton, wearing a bright red blazer, appeared, prompting Kimmel to joke: “Who would have guessed the audience would be so excited for the co-creator of ISIS?”

Referencing the comment made previously by Donald Trump (he said President Barack Obama was the “founder of ISIS” and that Clinton was the “cofounder”), Kimmel pressed the nominee on how she handles such a claim, politically and personally.

“That was one of the crazier things that has been said during this campaign,” she told the late-night host. “I don’t get upset anymore, because I’d be upset all the time. I think it’s crazy, but also harmful.”

She continued, “When Trump talks the way he talks, it actually helps the terrorists. Because they make a case that Hillary Clinton and Obama created ISIS,” saying “we heard it from Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.”

The visit marked Clinton’s first late-night appearance since the Democratic National Convention and her historic nomination as the party’s presidential nominee.

During Kimmel’s opening monologue, Kimmel said Clinton is gearing up for the general election debates, but that her campaign is having trouble finding a mock stand-in for Trump, given his divisive rhetoric and persona.

“I’m here to ask for your help!” Clinton told Kimmel. “You have to be prepared for wacky stuff that comes at you. I am drawing on my experience in elementary school — the guy who pulled your ponytail.”

Case in point: Trump claimed that she “lacks the mental and physical stamina to take on ISIS.” Kimmel asked her about the charges that she is unhealthy, as well as Trump’s recent Second Amendment remark. Both claims were categorized by Clinton as being a part of the “alternate universe” of this election.

“I don’t think we’ve ever been confronted with somebody that we see as unqualified and temperamentally unfit [at this point],” she said. Kimmel then took her pulse — “Make sure I’m alive,” she joked — and had her prove her strength by opening a pickle jar.

How great would it be if her first act as president was to deport Trump to Mexico? Kimmel asked.

“I’m not into deporting anybody,” she said, adding, “except violent people.”

Kimmel then turned talk to the DNC’s most viral moment: Bill Clinton’s love for the American-themed balloons that closed out the weeklong event.

“It seemed like he had seen balloons for the first time,” said Kimmel, sparking big laughs from Clinton.

“We were all pretty excited about the balloons,” she said. “That’s one of the things that I love about my husband, is that he enjoys so many things and balloons is one of them.”

Kimmel then showed a picture of one of the balloons in the Clinton suite, as the grandparents said they took one home so they could play with their granddaughter, Charlotte.

“The balloon fantasy and excitement continued,” she said.

When Kimmel asked her how she handles being away from Charlotte on the campaign trail, the nominee said she’d be “distraught” if she didn’t have FaceTime.

“Have you considered using FaceTime instead of email?” he joked, getting a laugh and a clap from Clinton. “Actually, I think that’s really good advice,” she replied

On a serious note, he asked if she is concerned about the next batch of emails being released so close to the election.

“We’ve already released 30,000-plus emails, what’s a few more?” she asked, saying she’s not concerned about Trump finding something to use against her. “He makes stuff up. If he would stick to reality, I wouldn’t have a care in the world.”

Clinton also has never sent Trump an email, she said.

For the lighter parts of the show, Kimmel had Clinton read Trump quotes out of a bowl that was topped with a wig resembling the reality star’s hair. The nominee, however, couldn’t read this one: “I said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter perhaps I’d be dating her.”

Before letting her go, the host pressed Clinton on why she didn’t pick him as her runningmate, ripping on her vice-presidential ticket pick Tim Kaine for seeming like a guy who would wear Crocs, a cell phone belt buckle and have a funny song on his voicemail.

Finally she conceded and named Kimmel as her “Vice Vice President.”

John Krasinski, whose film Hollars premieres this weekend, was Kimmel’s second guest of the night. “I was really thrown by that,” he said of his second-rate billing.

The ‘Bachelorette’ and ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ castoff will continue his run on the ‘Bachelor’ couple’s spinoff series, ‘Happily Ever After?’

The Bachelor isn’t quite finished with Chad Johnson.

The Bachelorette villain and exiled Bachelor in Paradise star will appear on Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After?, a show rep confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Happily Ever After? will chronicle post-show life for Bachelor couple Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell when it premieres Oct. 11 on Freeform. Details about Chad’s appearance remain under wraps, as the spinoff series is currently in production.

After making his debut on ABC’s most recent cycle of The Bachelorette with Joelle “JoJo” Fletcher, Chad quickly earned “villain” status by threatening his fellow housemates with acts of violence and was eliminated. The franchise brought him back, along with other castoffs and fan favorites, for Bachelor in Paradise, which is currently airing its third season.

He squandered the second chance, however, by getting intoxicated and launching offensive tirades, again, at his castmembers, as well as at host Chris Harrison. Chad lasted one episode and was kicked off the show, by Chris, on the premiere.

The polarizing castmember became a viral topic on social media during his run, and his episodes saw results in the ratings department. ABC heavily teased Chad’s return on Bachelor in Paradise throughout The Bachelorette — including giving him the floor during the Men Tell All reunion special. The first episode saw a 30 percent jump from the prior season premiere.

Freeform, sister network to ABC, announced Ben and Lauren’s series — the first Bachelor couple spinoff — with promises of appearances by franchise fan favorites. Chad is the first guest to be confirmed.

When previously speaking to THR about their return to reality TV, Ben and Lauren categorized Happily Ever After? as a docuseries that will follow the newly engaged pair exploring wedding planning and cohabitation in Ben’s hometown in Colorado. They planned to show Ben’s political interests, but the Denver native has since dropped his plans to run for a seat in the Colorado House of Representatives.

At the time, they said they hadn’t yet watched JoJo’s season of The Bachelorette (JoJo was the runner-up from Ben’s season of The Bachelor), but Lauren admitted that talk of the infamous Chad was luring her back in. “Now I definitely want to get caught up — I keep hearing so much about this Chad guy,” she said.

Happily Ever After? is being produced by Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television with Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss, Martin Hilton and Jason Ehrlich as the executive producers.

The series is the fourth spinoff for the long-running Bachelor franchise, including ABC’s The Bachelorette, Bachelor Pad and Bachelor in Paradise. The network also debuted two one-hour aftershows, Bachelor Live, hosted by Harrison, and After Paradise.

In its second season, After Paradise, is no longer hosted by Harrison. In his place is past Bachelor Sean Lowe and franchise superfan Michelle Collins, formerly of The View.

Chris Harrison Explains Why He Isn’t Hosting ‘After Paradise’

August 19, 2016 9:15am PT by Jackie Strause

The veteran ‘Bachelor’ favorite is missing from ABC’s ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ aftershow — the only show of the 14-year franchise Harrison hasn’t hosted.

When ABC’s After Paradise premiered two weeks ago, the absence of veteran Bachelor host Chris Harrison did not go unnoticed.

The second season of the Bachelor In Paradise aftershow replaced Harrison and his season one co-host, Jenny Mollen, with franchise superfan Michelle Collins and former Bachelor Sean Lowe.

Viewers, who are collectively referred to as Bachelor Nation, were up in arms.

“I didn’t walk away from The Bachelor or Bachelor Nation,” Harrison tells The Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive interview. “I was worried because the impression I was getting off social media is that everyone thought I was just too busy and had chosen to walk away from The Bachelor and one of its shows. The last comment that did it was somebody mentioning that I was too good for it — that’s not the case at all.”

So Harrison took to Twitter to say that the decision, in fact, wasn’t his.

Since The Bachelor first launched in 2002, the ABC franchise has spawned its long-running sister series, The Bachelorette, seasonal After the Final Rose finale specials, two spinoff series, five TV wedding specials and two talk shows — all hosted by Harrison.

The choice to swap out the face of the franchise didn’t come from the network but was instead made at the production level, sources tell THR. ABC sent out a news release on the day of the After Paradise season two premiere that included the new hosts and made no mention of Harrison’s former role. ABC and franchise creator Mike Fleiss declined comment for this story.

Harrison, who is the host for Bachelor in Paradise, is currently busy filming his other ABC hosting gig for syndicated game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? at Bally’s in Las Vegas. He’s also returning to host the Miss America pageant in September. But says he would have found a way to make it work.

The Bachelor is always going to be my first love and I’m very loyal to it and had carved it into my schedule,” he said. “It would have been difficult flying back and forth, but that’s always going to be my first position. I’m loyal to the brand.”

After Paradise premiered Aug. 9, during the second week of Bachelor in Paradise. The summer spinoff series courts franchise fan favorites to Sayulita, Mexico, with an open bar and opportunity to find love. Bachelor in Paradise moved from one night to two in its second week, with After Paradise following Tuesday’s condensed one-hour show.

While this season of Bachelor in Paradise is registering with summer viewers — the premiere jumped nearly 30 percent from the season-one premiere with a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49 — viewership for the aftershow is down. Its first two weeks saw same-day ratings of 0.6 and 0.5 in the 18-49 demo, respectively. By comparison, the Harrison-hosted season one finale of After Paradise saw a same-day 1.1 rating.

Harrison, who says he pushed to have Collins, formerly of The View, on the show last year because she’s funny, is tuning in each week.

“I love Sean and Michelle,” he says. “They’re both good friends of mine and I wish them well. Michelle is so good and Sean’s a great guy.”

With the jury still out on the highly anticipated next Bachelor, the franchise could seize an opportunity to boost ratings by announcing the next star of the 21st cycle on After Paradise

Fleiss announced Aug. 11 that he would be revealing the next Bachelor from his Twitter account, instructing viewers to “stay tuned.” But a week later, rather than announcing the news, he has turned it into a challenge to see if he can grow his account to 100,000 followers while only offering generic clues to who the new mystery man is.

In the show’s history, a Bachelor or Bachelorette has never been announced on social media.

One thing that Bachelor Nation can count on, however, is Harrison being there when the new Bachelor returns.

“Bachelor Nation has nothing to worry about, I’m not going anywhere,” he said. “I will definitely be back for Bachelor and Bachelorette and for all of my other hosting duties.”

“I appreciate all the support,” he said.
