Margaret Cho

Fox’s untitled Tina Fey and Matt Hubbard women’s university comedy has found its administrator in a familiar face.

30 Rock Emmy nominee Margaret Cho has boarded the untitled comedy known as Cabot College, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The multicamera comedy takes place at a women’s college that has just opened its doors to men for the first time.

STORY: TV Pilots 2014: The Complete Guide

Cho will play the series regular role of Laura Thibault, the president of Cabot College who made the difficult decision to admit men into the school. She’s further described as a divisive figure on campus and does her best to be welcoming of the male freshmen but is often irritated by their antics.

Third Watch alum Bonnie Dennison stars as Thena, a pretty but uptight sophomore and hard-core feminist who is the leader of the sizable population of Cabot College that doesn’t want men on campus. Broadway actor Jack Cutmore-Scott co-stars as Charlie Deckard, a wealthy Kennedy-esque guy who enrolls in the college, much to Thena’s chagrin. Chelsea Lately’s Fortune Feimster and CSI‘s Brandon Jones co-star.

Production on the comedy — which has a series commitment — begins in March, as Fox is poised to shift to year-round programming and away from the traditional pilot season. 30 Rock‘s Hubbard penned the script for the Universal Television vehicle and exec produces alongside Fey, Robert Carlock and David MinerPam Fryman (How I Met Your Mother) directs.

The casting marks a reunion for Cho with both Fey and Hubbard after the actress played Kim Jong-Il and his son, Kim Jong-Un. She earned a guest actress in a comedy Emmy nomination for the former role. Cho, whose credits also include Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva — where she’ll continue to have a role on the show’s upcoming sixth season — and All American Girl, is repped by WME.

TV Ratings: Slipping ‘X Factor’ Loses to Barbara Walters Special, ‘Sing-Off’

X Factor season 3 final 3 L

Michael Becker / FOX

“The X Factor”

Wednesday proved to be relatively uneventful with ABC’s annual Most Fascinating People special topping the night with a 2.1 rating among adults 18-49. Following comedy encores, Barbara Walters‘ last installment of the yearly franchise was steady with its 2012 performance. The host retires in the spring, so this marked her final outing. ABC averaged a 1.8 rating with adults 18-49 and 7.2 million viewers.

NBC’s The Sing-Off, again softer without its Voice lead-in, still managed to top the performance finale of The X Factor with a 1.6 adults rating — down two-tenths of a point from last week. Michael Buble’s Christmas special (1.3 adults) was within a tenth of a point of last year’s outing. NBC took a 1.5 adults rating and 5.3 million viewers.

The X Factor (1.3 adults) hit an all-time Wednesday low with its performance finale, falling 52 percent from last December’s comparable episode (2.7 adults). Among total viewers, the Fox series averaged 5 million viewers.

After CBS’ annual Home for the Holidays special (0.6 adults), down two-tenths from last year, encores gave the network an average 1.0 rating with adults 18-49 and 5.96 million viewers for the night.

The CW’s  iHeartRadio Jingle Ball special averaged a 0.6 rating with adults 18-49 and 1.4 million viewers.
