Nicholas Brendon Attempted Suicide Video Shamefully Posted By RadarOnline

Nicholas Brendon seemingly attempted to commit suicide in September by slashing his left wrist twice while on a street in Saratoga Springs, New York, and now RadarOnline shamefully posted video of it on its site. And while Gossip Cop sadly is not surprised by the webloid’s actions, since it previously published Lamar Odom’s brothel overdose and Bobbi Kristina Brown’s dying moments, we are still 100 percent disgusted with the outlet.

Gossip Cop, of course, will not post the video, which the webloid happily made shareable with an embed code, after first making viewers watch a 15-second revenue-producing commercial.

As Gossip Cop has perilously noted, Brendon has fought alcoholism for years and been in an out of rehab center. He even acknowledged on Facebook, “My illnesses and addictions are a daily struggle for me.” Based on that alone, as well as his various run-ins with the law, there was no need for RadarOnline to exacerbate his already difficult situation by posting video of the actor trying to kill himself.

The webloid claims it published the highly personal and embarrassing footage “in the hope that Brendon will get the help he so desperately needs.” But Gossip Cop is calling them out on that. If the blog were truly so concerned about Brendon, it wouldn’t have published the video at all. Furthermore, it’s hard to believe there’s genuine concern for Brendon by RadarOnline, which just sentences above the video called his existence a “train-wreck life.”

But Gossip Cop is not the only one not buying the webloid’s excuse to exploit Brendon at his lowest. Even RadarOnline’s readers are taking the site to task. A comment user screen name Justmyopinion mocked the webloid, writing, “We just want to show this so it will help someone else. SCUMBAGS!!!” Another commenter remarked, “If you’re so interested in his welfare why place a tacky commercial before playing the video? Making some nice ad revenue from his illness are you?”

The Macmillan dictionary defines the word “ashamed” as “feeling guilty or embarrassed because you have done something wrong, or think that you have not reached a standard that people expect.” Gossip Cop is including the definition here because we’re not convinced, having posted video of Brendon trying to commit suicide, that RadarOnline understands what it is and why the site should be ashamed.

Lamar Odom “Brothel Overdose” Photos Shamefully Published By RadarOnline And National Enquirer

Lamar Odom Brothel Overdose Photos

As Lamar Odom clings to life, so-called “brothel overdose” photos were shamefully published on Monday night by RadarOnline and the National Enquirer.

RadarOnline’s headline announces, “‘Covered In Blood!’ Shocking Photos Of Lamar Odom’s Brothel Overdose Revealed — See The Disturbing Images.” Accompanying it is a gallery of multiple photos showing what the webloid deems a “gruesome scene.” Gossip Cop will NOT be re-posting the pictures, or even describing them.

While we have been reporting factual news about Odom’s medical emergency over the last week with caution and care, RadarOnline has consistently proven that it is only interested in sensationalism and exploitation, unable to muster up even a modicum of respect during this life-and-death situation. The difference is all the more apparent with the site’s latest move. It wasn’t designed as service journalism, whereby an outlet provides valuable information, but merely as a cash grab, a ploy to score clicks.

“In a bombshell exclusive, the National Enquirer obtained these photos and provided them to Radar — as well as to the local authorities, who will use them as crime scene evidence to aid with their continuing investigation into the incident,” writes RadarOnline, seemingly attempting to gloat about its supposed involvement in the police case. The honorable thing would’ve been to share them with law enforcement and then that’s it, not hand them over and then plaster them across the internet.

RadarOnline even adds, “For more chilling photos, pick up the latest issue of the National Enquirer on Wednesday!” That leaves little doubt as to the two publications’ motivations. Gossip Cop doesn’t expect either outlet to know honor or respect. These are, of course, the same publications that printed and posted the last photos of Bobbi Kristina Brown. But that doesn’t stop us from being disappointed and disgusted.

Perez Hilton’s “Kardashian Kleanse” Is Hypocritical And Self-Serving

Perez Hilton Kardashian Kleanse

(Perez Hilton)

Perez Hilton is launching a so-called “Kardashian Kleanse” on Monday, pledging to go the full work-week without posting a single story about the Kardashians and Jenners. Gossip Cop believes this is both hypocritical and self-serving.

In his announcement, Perez asked, “Do U ever feel like there’s just TOO MUCH Kardashian news out there?????” He went on to vow that between August 17 and 21, “You can come here for all of the juiciest entertainment news without having to be bombarded by Kim Kardashian, Caitlyn Jenner, and everyone in between.” And, in an effort to wring every last bit of traffic out of the family, Perez created a photo gallery for readers to click through to see every single person the Kardashian-Jenner ban applies to.

Perez’s logic (see video below) seems to be that if there’s less coverage of the Kardashians, even just for a little while, everyone will be “healthier” and better off from the “detox.” There’s no denying the Kardashian empire is a beast. But Perez helped create that monster. He’s spent years profiting off the family, and made a living off them through thousands of posts.

Not to mention much of what Perez has written about the Kardashians has been patently untrue. For instance, in 2012, Perez falsely claimed Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were headed for a “public split.” Last year, he wrongly said Kourtney Kardashian was expecting a baby girl. And even way back in 2009, Perez bizarrely and erroneously said Brody Jenner skipped Khloe Kardashian‘s wedding because of a supposed feud with… Joe Francis?! Gossip Cop has repeatedly pointed out such lies, and it’s why Perez has had us blocked on Twitter for years.

Perez’s ban extends to the most peripheral of Kardashian-related figures, such as Kim’s ex Reggie Bush and Caitlyn’s transgender friend Candis Cayne (see full list below). While surely neither of them are clamoring for Perez coverage, to effectively punish and penalize them‎ for being loosely associated with the family is absurd. And Perez even notes that, in place of Kardashians stories, his site will be “highlighting DAILY inspiring stories about amazing women from all around the world,” as if these two things are mutually exclusive and can’t be done together all the time.

Let’s be clear: This isn’t about Gossip Cop being Kardashian cheerleaders. It’s about calling out Perez on his bullsh*t. He isn’t tr‎ying to make a statement about the Kardashians. He’s trying to garner attention for himself (and admittedly, we’re giving him some). He’s created a publicity stunt, the very things the Kardashians are accused of.

‎Here’s what the real pledge should be: Readers, cleanse yourself of Perez. Many of us here at Gossip Cop are reformed gossip addicts. One even used to keep Perez open on her browser and refreshed all day to never miss a post. But just cut the cord for a week. You’ll be surprised how easy it is to go without him.

Because the real truth is, Perez needs readers. And he needs the Kardashians a lot more than they need him.

Next week is bigger than it first seemed! It’s an important kleanse! Committed to this!!!! #NoKardashiansForAWeek
