Donald Trump Claims National Enquirer Is “Respected,” Gossip Cop Disagrees

Donald Trump National Enquirer

(National Enquirer)

Donald Trump said in a press conference on Friday the National Enquirer is “respected,” but we at Gossip Cop respectfully disagree. While the supermarket tabloid has seemingly spent its money well buying some noteworthy exclusives, the magazine is not universally “respected.”

Since Trump announced his candidacy, for example, the tabloid has published a surreptitiously taken and wholly unsanctioned photo of Bobbi Kristina Brown in her deathbed. The magazine also recently published fake photo recreations of Prince’s death at Paisley Park. And in an odd colliding of Republican and Democratic politics, with a particular nod to the Clintons, the outlet published a completely fabricated tale about Caitlyn Jenner pursuing a “romantic relationship” with Monica Lewinsky.

“Respected”?

To be sure, the Enquirer nailed former senator and presidential candidate John Edwards for having a secret love child with Rielle Hunter, as his wife Elizabeth was dying of cancer. That was a big score. But what about all the other false and possibly fabricated tales the tabloid tells?

With still more than five months to the end of this year, Gossip Cop has already debunked 158 of the tabloid’s stories. In May alone, Gossip Cop corrected 27 Enquirer reports. Among the gems from that month were that Angelina Jolie was “dying,” George Clooney and Julia Roberts were “caught cheating,” Rihanna was pregnant with Leonardo DiCaprio’s “baby,” Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were “caught on film” having sex in Cuba, and Tom Cruise believed his daughter Suri was possessed by an “evil spirit.”

“Respected”?

Notwithstanding the Edwards story, the Enquirer doesn’t have such a stellar record when it comes to accurately reporting about politics. Gossip Cop busted the outlet this time last year for falsely claiming that Angelina Jolie was close to becoming Hillary Clinton’s Vice Presidential running mate. We also debunked an Enquirer report that wrongly claimed President Obama was desperate to get George Clooney to run for office. And a couple of months ago, Gossip Cop corrected the tabloid for absurdly alleging Michelle Obama and Morgan Freeman were “flirting,” sending President Obama into a “rage.”

Of course, it’s not exactly surprising that the Republican presidential nominee feels the Enquirer should be “respected.” The cover of this week’s tabloid reads, “How Trump Will Win!” And inside the magazine, it boasts about his “7-Step Plan To Destroy Hillary” (see above).

So, until the Enquirer stops providing Gossip Cop with a seemingly endless supply of false stories to bust, we will respectfully disagree with the Republican presidential nominee that the supermarket tabloid is “respected.” Even with its checkbook journalism, the tabloid hasn’t been able to buy respect. Respect is earned. And as a businessman, Donald Trump should know that.

(FOX)

“Grease: Live!” will be broadcast on FOX on Sunday, and Gossip Cop has a live stream below!

Grease debuted on Broadway in 1972 and ran until 1980. There were other Broadway revivals in 1994 and 2007, but most audiences know it from the 1978 film adaptation starring John Travolta as Danny Zuko and Olivia Newton-John as Sandy. The movie grossed close to $400 million globally and, to this day, remains the highest grossing film musical of all time.

The musical tells the story of Danny and Sandy’s summer romance coming to an end and then how the good girl and the bad boy handle it when they unexpectedly end up in the same high school for their senior year. “Grease: Live!” has Julianne Hough as its Sandy, while Aaron Tveit takes on the greaser role of Danny. Joining them at Rydell High is an all-star cast that includes Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo, Carly Rae Jepsen as Frenchy, and Carlos PenaVega in the role of Kenickie.

Additionally, Mario Lopez stars as Vince Fontaine, with Wendell Pierce as Coach Calhoun, Ana Gasteyer as Principal McGee, Joe Jonas as Johnny Casino, Eve Plumb as Mrs. Murdock. Joining them are Boyz II Men, Jessie J. and Didi Conn, who starred in the film.

“Grease: Live!” is being filmed from two stages on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California. It’s slated to begin at 7 p.m. and run approximately three hours. Check out the “Grease” live stream below.

Madonna Wrong To Think Terrorists Will Stop By Giving Them “Dignity And Respect” And “Love Unconditionally”

Madonna Paris Attacks

(YouTube)

Madonna stopped her Saturday concert in Stockholm, Sweden to pay tribute those who died in the “tragic killings” and “assassinations” in Paris on Friday night, but after crying for the victims and their families, she wrongly told the audience at the Tele2 Arena that while people do “atrocious, degrading and unforgivable things” to one another, among the reasons for these senseless acts of violence is that we don’t treat “every human being with dignity and respect.” Her view of terrorists, namely ISIS, is naive and downright foolish. See Madonna’s speech below.

Madonna started off in the right direction when she paused her performance and said, “I feel torn. Like, why am I up here dancing and having fun when people are crying over the loss of their loved ones,” before adding in tears, “However, that is exactly what these people want to do. They want to shut us up. They want to silence us. And we won’t let them. We will never let them!”

The singer, who’s set to perform in Paris on December 9, then said, “I was going to cancel my show tonight but then I thought to myself, ‘Why should I give that to them? Why should I allow them to stop me and to stop us from enjoying freedom?’” Before veering off course, Madonna rightly continued, “All of the places where people were killed were places where people were having fun. People were enjoying themselves, eating in restaurants, dancing, singing, watching a soccer match. These are freedoms that we take for granted, of course, and we must not but they’re freedoms that we deserve. We work hard and we deserve to have fun, and there is no one in this world that should have the right to stop us from doing what we love.”

But after making a number of valid points, Madonna blew it big time. She first acknowledged, “There are people who have no respect for human life, and there are people that do atrocious, degrading and unforgivable things to other human beings, but we will never ever, ever change this world that we live in if we do not change ourselves, if we do not change the way that we treat one another on a daily basis.” Madonna then misguidedly added, “We must start treating every human being with dignity and respect, and this the only thing that will change the world… Only love will change the world, but it’s very hard to love unconditionally, and it’s very hard to love that which we do not understand or that which is different than we are, but we have to or this will go on and on forever.”

While in broad brushstrokes, there’s no argument that spreading love and treating one another with “dignity and respect” will make for a better planet, but ISIS doesn’t play by those rules. ISIS detests our way of life. ISIS wants to wreak havoc of the Western world.

Does Madonna really think if we gave ISIS “love unconditionally” they would no longer perpetrate horrific acts of violence? And can Madonna really “love unconditionally” a group that beheads, throws over the sides of building, and stones to death men for being gay?

There was no act of love or kindness nor any show of dignity or respect that could have been done by the government of France or the 129 people who were murdered that would have changed ISIS’s resolve to kill and injure as many innocent people as possible. Perhaps those who are terrorized can learn to “love unconditionally,” but it will never sway the terrorists’ hate.

Following her mostly well-intentioned speech, Madonna then launched into her 1989 hit “Like A Prayer.” Sadly, though, it will take more than dignity, respect, love or even prayer to stop ISIS.

Watch the video below of Madonna addressing the audience in Sweden, and tell Gossip Cop what you think.
