Larry Wilmore’s Comedy Central show won’t be titled The Minority Report, instead it will take a cue from one of the channel’s flagship shows.

The new series was retitled The Nightly Show and will premiere on Jan. 19, according to The New York Times

Wilmore, a former correspondent on The Daily Show, was named in May the host of the forthcoming 11:30 pm show, which will take the place of The Colbert Report. When the comedian’s show was first announced, the original title was The Minority Report With Larry Wilmore.

In an interview with the Times, Wilmore said that name change was to avoid “brand confusion.”

“It was never intended to be a show only about minorities,” Wilmore told the newspaper. “It’s a show about underdogs, and that happens in a lot of different forms, whether it’s race, gender, or whatever.”

The last episode of Stephen Colbert‘s The Colbert Report is set to air on Dec. 18

CNN: Piers Morgan Is “Misrepresenting” His Job Performance

Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan‘s advice column on CNN appears like it didn’t go over well.

The cable news network pushed back against the commentary the former Piers Morgan Live offered in the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter

In a statement, first reported by Politico, a CNN spokesperson countered Morgan’s suggestion that his talk show could’ve used a better lead-in than Anderson Cooper‘s AC 360.

“For the 2 1/2 years that AC 360 served as the lead in to Piers Morgan’s program on CNN, it always delivered a higher rating than Piers’ program.‎ And for the 7 months that Piers Morgan’s program led into AC 360, 360 always delivered a higher rating than Piers’ program. It is sad that Piers is trying to find a new job by misrepresenting how he performed in his old one,” read the Thursday CNN statement issued by publicist Megan Rivers

In the guest column, Morgan also stated of his then-colleague, Cooper, “for all his qualities as a reporter is stiff in a studio and gets annihilated in the ratings every night by [BillO’Reilly.”

THR has reached out for additional comment from Morgan.

Jon Stewart

Stephen Colbert will be joining CBS, and Jon Stewart reportedly could’ve gone to NBC recently.

The Daily Show host was in talks with NBC News to replace David Gregory as the host of Meet the Press, reports New York magazine’s Gabriel Sherman, citing “three senior television sources with knowledge of the talks.”

Chuck Todd was officially named host of the Sunday political talk show on Aug. 14, following the departure of Gregory who had hosted the show since 2008.

Stewart, meanwhile, has been on the festival circuit recently in support of his directorial debut Rosewater, which debuted at the Telluride Film Festival in late August.

NBC News did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Shortly after New York magazine published the report, Chuck Todd referenced the story with a nod to The Daily Show‘s end segment.
