In August you might have read about Stacey Dean Rambold, the teacher who received a 30-day sentence after raping an underage student who later committed suicide. You might have signed this Change.org petition, or this Moveon.org petition calling for the Judge who issued the ruling — the same judge who said the victim was "older than her age" and "in control of the situation" — to step down.

Today, Rambold's 30 days were up and he walked free.

Rambold was released around 9:30 a.m., the Billings Gazette reports.

Four hours later, at around 1:30 p.m., Rambold arrived at the state Probation and Parole office in Billings. He met with a probation officer who will monitor his behavior until 2028 and will be required to register with the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office as a sex offender.
